I think this qualifies as an LOTM question. . .

As we know in the movie the Marquis de Montcalm not only survives, but is victorious as he takes Fort William Henry. So, in real life, how did his life end?

Hey, LLOF. Is that true? I was thinking of when and where when I asked the question, but your answer could certainly be the answer if the question is looked at in a different way. So, if you have historical information on that from some source, that sounds good to me. I didn't know that.

Ok I think I see what you meant. I was getting the true Montcalm not the guy who plays him.

This is from Wikipedia
Later actions at Quebec were less successful and his army was defeated on the Plains of Abraham (near Quebec City) by the British under James Wolfe, but only after repelling the initial British landing at Montmorency Falls several days before. Outnumbered and without Lévis' division, the battle lasted only 17 minutes outside the city's fortress. Wolfe fell on the Plains, and Montcalm died the day after the battle of his wounds (he had been shot in the abdomen), on September 14, 1759, four days before the British entered Quebec. He was buried in the convent of the Ursuline nuns in Quebec, supposedly in a hole caused by the British shelling.

O.K. I think I better take a class in expressing myself, because you got exactly the answer I was looking for, LLOF. But apparently I don't seem to be able to make myself clear regarding this question. I was looking for the real Montcalm, not the character from the movie or the actor. So, you are exactly right--he died at a battle in Quebec in 1759. Great research. You're up.
