Uncas in some ways, was a very lucky guy. It would be fun to pull Alice away from the falls and thrust my hand through her hair. But my wife would make me pay dearly for doing that! |

During my family tree search we first believed we had english decent but learned that our family name was forced to be changed during the European wars w/Scotland and Ireland. We are actually Scotish(dad), Irish(dad and mom), and German(mom). Oh yeah, my father's great-grandma was Blackfoot. And the cool part is my mom's family has been traced all the way back to Pastorius - the 1st German to step foot on american soil! It's truely a small world!
Yes a very small world! Lol, I'm English (boo, hiss lol) just because I was born in England, and northern England at that! Southerners still think we wear flat caps - we like to keep them guessing! They also believe that Manchester is the northernmost city in the north of England. Manchester? Manchester is in the south of the north of England! I digress... Anyway, my ancestors are from Ireland and Scotland. I don't have time to do any research on my family tree what with A-levels and all. Have a merry Christmas! |

WAS NOT!!!
[How does the Geezer know this, they ask.]
Obi never watches chickflicks.
Obi has watched LOTM more than a time or 2.
THEREFORE, LOTM cannot be a chickflick. |

That's ok Obi. We know how to read between the lines!
Thus the above comments translate to:
Obi will never admitt he likes a good sappy love story like LOTM (CHICKFLICK!!) (Yes, it's true that there are hard core war scenes involved but EVERYBODY knows that catastrpophe is a must to make any LOVE story worth crying over.)

Those of us who are Indians get their names through proper naming ceremonies. A lot of this tradition is no longer practised among our people. The names are now given at birth like the white society does. My birth name is Kenneth. I was given the name M'Weowa-Ni, but not until I was in my twenties. It very roughly translates to "Lonewolf", which is what I use for my surname, since non-Indian people expect a first name and a last name, especially on driver's licenses and Social Security cards.
I enjoyed the LOTM movie, but I thought that it should have been shot in upstate New York. There are gorgeous lakes and forest scenery there. The reason that a lot of the footage was shot in North Carolina is the fact that the movie companies don't have to worry about theatrical trade unions in the Carolinas. This is one of the over-riding reasons that much of "The Patriot" was filmed in South Carolina.
New Years Day is not far away, and I wish you all the best for 2007. |

Play with it? How can I be doing that? The dang thing is a big blob laying on the floor! I must admit Red, you know me pretty well. I would be gone for days. In fact I have been, but not for fooling around with the broken one (heaven knows I tried to revive it several times, he's just a lost cause at this point). Rather I've been away because I received the second shipment (the 10 Alice dolls) and I have been having a good ole' time taking my frustrations out on that poor thing doing a nose dive off my table 100 times a minute! You should hear her hit the ground, makes a nice *splat* sound everytime! Can't wait till Captain Crunch comes in! He better burn well, Fitz! |

'Kyfrontiersman' because my wife Nancy and I have been living historians of the 18th century for over 30 years, and we have been doing first person presentations of Simon & Betsy Kenton, and also more recently of Squire & Jane Boone, Daniel Boone’s younger brother. "The Frontiersman" was the name of Allan Eckert's book about Simon Kenton in '67. Nancy and I feel that the use of first person portrayals is a wonderful tool in bringing history alive for young and old alike. We have performed at Fort Boonesborough, the Blue Licks Battlefield State Park, Constitution Square State Park in Danville, Ky., the Long Run Massacre reenactment by the Painted Stone Settlers in Shelbyville, Ky., Mansker’s Station in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous in Vincennes, In., the Fair at New Boston at George Rogers Clark Park in Springfield, Ohio for the GRCHA, at the Heritage Center of Clark County in Springfield, Ohio, and also at numerous schools, libraries, genealogical societies, historical societies, and museums across the Country. |

also born of the fire was another option, but didn't work out as nicely. |

My screen name is pretty easy to figure out! My great grandmother was blackfoot. So hence the name.
P.S. I'm trying to revive this thread! It's interesting to hear how everyone came up with their names. We have a group of very creative people! Keep it going! |
