Don't know if this thread could ever take the place of the Deep Freeze thread, but ...

After a week of dreary, wet weather ... and a looooooooong winter ... the weather broke late on the first day of Spring, a couple of days ago ...

Now, Mohicanland is enjoying clear, blue skies, temps in the upper 60s, low 70s, and no humidity. Lovely!

Hope it's near as nice where all of you are!!!

I do believe you are right, Sachem! Even up here in Binghamton, there are signs of spring. I haven't yet seen that true harbinger of spring... the robin; however, yesterday as I walked up to my front steps I glanced into the flower bed (which I can finally see now!) and... lo and behold! I have some tulips poking up about 2 inches!! Woo Hoo!!

And last week, I heard the geese! The beautiful, joyous honking of the Canadian geese! I love that sound! Brenda! The geese are leaving the Chesapeake Bay and are heading north to you!!

And so, thinking of spring and getting outdoors, my signature has special meaning:

YAHOO!! I heard them today for the first time this year - what a beautiful sound! No tulips here yet, but they should be poking their heads up anytime now!

LOL! I hear ya, Cherie!

With me, it's my knees. All that getting up and down doesn't happen as easily as it used to. As much as I love winter, I am always happy to see spring come because I love getting down 'n dirty.... er... in my gardens, that is. I really like digging, planting and getting my hands good and filthy. No dainty-flowered-cotton-garden gloves for me! Guess it comes from my "back-to-the-land" years.

Breaking news!!

Yesterday, I ventured out my door... without a coat... and survived!! It was into the 60s, which for me is quite pleasant.

Yeah, Chris, we are to get about 2 inches of the lovely white stuff tomorrow here in Central PA. My onions are just peeking through the soil, too. THAT is why this is called an "Onion Snow"!!!

Fortunately, it will not last, as the weather is too warm and the ground is not frozen.....just a "soft-serve" for the water table!

I think it was the Mets ... but you're both off-base, anyhow.

It's:

Go LA Dodgers!!!

Sorry Rich, why did I think you were a Yankee fan?

And W.W. is it the Mariners that Todd Jones plays for? He's also from my neck of the woods. (I have a lot of woods... )

Never mind...to quote Emily Latilla from SNL. Todd Jones is a relief pitcher for the Rockies.

Well, you're not far off, actually ...

I was born in Brooklyn & Dad was a big Dodgers fan. He instilled that in me, but then they moved & there was no NL baseball in NY, so, as a boy I grew up watching, and loving, the Yankees of Mantle & Maris. Then the Mets came along & brought the National League back to town & I could see the Dodgers again. So, I like them both, I guess, but if they go head-to-head ... it's Dodgers all the way!

Got off to a good start last night, beating Randy Johnson & the Diamondbacks, 8-0!

I think it's time to revive this thread.

Spring has come to upstate New Yawk!!

The trees are leafing out... the grass is green and growing... I have mowed the lawn once... I have been in the flower beds several times... I've dug out several small weed-tree stumps... the temperatures are rising (but not too high!)... in the 60s and 70s is great for me!

I love this time of year! There is nothing prettier than New York state in the spring!

It's spring here too. The snow is gone except for the mountains. The geese have been back for about a week. The grass is turning green. My flowers are poking their heads up to see if it's safe to venture out. And we passed the true test yesterday. The leaf buds opened. Each year they all show a mist of green in one day. We've been breaking temperature records around the 60 degree mark. It's sunny and gorgeous. I love it!
