As of right now, it looks like it is going to be the week ending on the 14-15. I think that Stephanie wants to give everybody a chance to vote.
We will know something soon.

Love,
Kay

Well, we've sent out emails asking people to come vote, so I think most have had their chance to voice their opinion. I know this will be a problem for some, but based on the voting it looks like we have to go with the weekend of June 14-15. For those of you who have not attended a Gathering before, please realize that this means the Gathering will start a few days earlier than that and wrap up on the 15th. Depending on which events are chosen, we will probably start the Gathering mid-week and we'll look at a 4 to 5-day Gathering. So, there you have it! Roughly June 11-15... exact starting date still TBA.

Ok, after posting that last message I heard from some Gatherers who expressed dismay that the date which was decided upon was so early. It was pointd out to me that some who voted for that early date also stated that they were flexible, and that I should take into account other factors when deciding the date instead of basing it solely on the vote, especially since some of the voters were flexible.

After discussing this with several old-time Gatherers, I have decided to make the Gathering the third week of June, probably starting around June 17 or 18 and wrapping up on Sunday, June 22.
I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience related to my earlier message about the Gathering date.
So, mark your calendars! We will start either June 17 or 18 and end on June 22, 2008! I can't wait!!!

Steph,
I know that I would have changed my vote if i could. When I voted,I didn't think about our northern Gatherers, so I am glad that you changed the date to the next week.

Love,
Kay

Well I'm afraid we're out. Just found out the Boone Family reunion will be in Kentucky about then. Wish we could'a been there.

Mike,
Yes, we usually have a few Gatherers that show up in 18th century clothing sometime during the Gathering. Usually it is on the last day of the Gathering, but you can really wear it whenever you want to. If you go to:
http://www.mohicanpress.com/2004_gathering.html
Scroll down to Day Seven and you will see a good picture of Russell Means and some of the Gatherers in their attire. They are very dedicated to wear those clothes in the middle of summer!!!

Mike, look at the road in the picture. All gravel. That stuff kills your feet if you are in mocs, not to mention what it does to the mocs themselves. The two Dels usually come dressed as sauvage, and prehaps a few others from time to time. For the shoot at the French Broad Rifles' range, a lot more will dress period. And of course Soldier #2 shows up at the movie in his period clothes from the filming. I usually don't dress period except for the FBR day, because I had rather hike in a good pair of boots. And there is a lot of hiking.

Good Question. Is there a set date yet? I really need to know. Started a new job and they are telling me to put in the request ASAP.

I live in my own little world - but that's okay, they know me here!

As far as I know, the dates are, as Steph has reported, "... starting around June 17 or 18 and wrapping up on Sunday, June 22."

I would imagine plans will get fully underway after the Christmas season ...

Right you are, Rich. And plans are already underway! I am waiting on ONE person to return a call, and once that is settled, hopefully everything else will fall into place and a more detailed schedule will be announced.
That is a pet peeve of mine, people who won't return calls. Anyway, working on it!

Well if it is on the date of June 14-15, that's when we'll be at Friendship,
Indiana performing as Simon & Betsy Kenton. It really does sound like fun
though. Next time I hope?
