That's right, it's that time again.
At the moment, the 2008 Page is sparse indeed ... but the sign-up form is there, and that's really all ya need now, ain't it?!? Y'all already know what it's all about, but, if'n ya don't, browse the Gathering section for a more-than-sneak preview. See: Great Mohican Gatherings
If you are attending this year, and want to sign up, just click here: 2008 Great Mohican Gathering Sign-Ups
Okie Dokie? I'll add more info - if necessary - as Gatherer-in-Charge, Smurf, passes it on!

Well, I'm trying my darndest to get to this Gathering. It's been way too long since I've seen Rich, Donna, the rest of the group and I would love to meet all of the new folks. Of course, now we aren't just two but FIVE! and with living out West it doesn't help that we can't just load the gang in the car and drive 10 hours from Indiana like the old days. *sigh* |

I am going to do my darndest to get to the Gathering this year. I really miss everybody and hope to meet some new folks too! Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise (or the river, probably more appropriate), if my dad's health is okay I will be there this year!
Fitz, I thought I read somewhere that Spirits on the River closed. Not sure. |

Thanks, Rich, for putting this up! Sorry I have been slow about this, I've had a lot going on! Fitz, to answer your question about SOTR, I believe they are still open for now. The place is for sale, and last time I talked to Flip he had a potential buyer but I don't know what happened with that. Because the business and site are for sale, I didn't want to include them on the schedule just yet until we know if they will still be open in June. However, it is something we could easily add on Weds. or Thursday night (or heck, BOTH!), but we will wait until the time draws closer to see what happens. |

I really wish we could make it this year, but unfortunately we've already been contracted for that same weekend at Friendship, IN. for the NMLRA Spring Shoot. We'll be in the primitive area as Simon & Betsy Kenton then. Maybe next time, & I saw the crowd that assembled at the last Gathering. My goodness, what a crowd it was. How close is that area to the Boone's home in the Yadkin Valley in the Carolinas? Mike

Lordy, can't tell you how many times I've been to Friendship. The swap meet is a hoot! That is where I got my leather dress. This lady was selling off her ex-daughter-in-laws stuff to pay for their grandson's medical bills. Got a great deal and the best thing was that it fit me! Caitlin |

Here is the schedule for the 2008 Great Mohican Gathering:
http://www.mohicanpress.com/2008_gathering.html
You'll find a link on that page to the registration page, too! Register early and often; seating for the movie is limited this year!
Thanks, Rich for putting up the page and jazzing it up for me. |

Steph, I sent my registration off today. I can't wait for June to get here. I'd also like to remind everybody about Ariel's Auction and the raffle. We have some items already, but y'all know that the more that we have, the better, so I hope that everybody can bring a little something, especially for Ariel's Auction. Jayne will be handling the auction again. She is so good at it, especially with Karen's help. I will be handling the raffle, with the help of my family and the best ticket salesperson in the world, my best friend Kim. I'm too shy to get out there and ask people to buy a ticket, but she gets the job done. So, if there are any items relating to LOTM, colonial times, or some kind of goodie basket or anything else, then everything will be appreciated!!! THANKS GANG!!!

Alas, Kay...due to some unexpected turn-of-events, I may not be able to make the trip south this year. I won't know until mid-May. Unfortunately, that means I will need to relinquish the job of organizing Ariel's auction.
Would anyone be interested in carrying on this big-hearted tradition that started back in 2000? It has been an integral part of all Gatherings since then and ALWAYS results in an out-pouring of generosity and good will.
If you aren't familiar with little Ariel, please check out "Adorable Ariel's Auction Area" forum. You'll see how special she is and why we've "adopted" her as our own - why we've done our little part in helping her through her journey.
I'll be most happy to offer any help or advice about putting together the auction - a fun and rewarding job, I might add! (Really and truly - it IS!) The auction is fun for Gatherers AND it helps a sweet little girl.
So...anybody

Jayne, I'm so sorry to hear that you might have a conflict with the Gathering. I do hope it works out that you can make it. In the meantime: WE REALLY NEED AN ARIEL'S AUCTION COORDINATOR! Any volunteers? |

I would like to add that I will help out as much as I can too, so whoever takes on this wonderful project won't be left all alone. Jayne and I will do whatever we can to help!!! Here is a picture of our adorable little Ariel. Who wouldn't want to help this little angel out??? Come on gang, I know somebody out there wants to coordinate the auction. Please let Stephanie know if you will do this!!!
Love, Kay

WHAT!?... "More" good things happening in the background you say? The itinerary looks pretty fine right now.... and you've got more!
Rich... you're such a tease! You sure know how to build excitement and interest....
I'm all booked in and counting down the days....
As for someone who's been to every gathering, I can tell everyone that even though I've visited the same sites over and over, the experience is always a little different. Because of the people who come, the weather, and the things that happen, it's always fun. I hope to see many past gather'ers and many new people too! Come and make lifetime memories.

Just wanted to say I'm really looking forward to this year's Gathering...right now everything seems go for me to be able to come! My dad is doing well and there should be no problem in me being away for a few days...can't wait to see everybody and meet some new people! I have not been anywhere in the North Carolina mountains since the 2004 Gathering...guess it's just the same without you guys! Really looking forward to it!

I hope that everybody can make it. It will be nice to see the older gatherers as well as the newbies!!! I have been going through some of the raffle stuff and I think that everybody will like the goodies that we have so far. If there is anything that anybody would like to contribute, just email me at Kaylynn44@yahoo.com. Please remember Ariel's Auction too!!!

WOW! Thanks to all who have registered so far! I have received registrations from lots of repeat Gatherers (you know who you are!)... including John H. from Georgia, who does not post on the message board. Lots of other familiar faces, too! Registration is ongoing at this time... please remember that there is a limit to the number of movie seats available. I will post a warning if we get close to capacity. Secure your place today!
