Poll Question:
Well here it is June and I'm missing the Gathering already. So, to ease my withdrawals, let's attempt to set a date for the next Gathering: 2008!!
Gatherings have traditionally been held in mid-June around Fathers day. Depending on how the dates fall, this has worked out for most but has been problematic for those whose school schedules run later than others. So weigh in now and let your voice be heard about which weekend you would like to have the next Gathering. I have listed the dates as weekend-only but these dates will be the "center or "finale" of the Gathering, as most Gatherings last 4 to 5 days. The exact length of the next Gathering will be determined by which events we decide on, and we can decide that later. For now, pick a weekend but realize that you are also talking about the few days before that weekend as well.
Also, some have suggested having the Gathering at another time of year, such as October. While October is beautiful in the mountains, it is also very crowded and expensive, and heavy tourist traffic could be a problem. I am including October as a choice but I, personally, would not favor that as a choice. But, any and all comments are welcome and will be considered, and if I need to adjust the poll to include other options I will.
So, let's hear it! When do you want to Gather in 2008?

Please not October. I'll be back in college and school come first. I'd hate to miss it.
Besides, I pulled up as much info for sink holes and mudpits I could find in hopes that Obi will join us! |

| Early in June. Here's my logic. 2008 will be the big year for Carillon (Fort Ticonderoga) and it will probably be toward the end of June. So that will give a little space between events. |

I voted for June 14-15th.
The reason? It's likely that I'll be teaching a summer school session next year, and the two possibilites for that would be May 13-June 13 and June 19-July 22.
A Gathering the weekend of June 14 would fit perfectly between the two.  And I definitely intend on being at the Gathering. After all, what excuse do I have not to go? I live just a short drive away....
Oh, and the farther away from 4th of July weekend the better. In my experience, you can't travel anywhere in NC around the 4th. Also, the earlier we have the Gathering, maybe the cooler it will be? (Wishful thinking, of course!) |

I voted for June 14-15, but other times in June would probably work for me as well.
Thanks for getting our thoughts and memories pointed to the next Mohican Gathering!! I, too, am missing our old friends. And as always, look forward to seeing them next year and making new friends along the way.

Speaking for myself, school lets out mid-June (depending on snow days), so probably the week ending June 21 or 28 would be best for me.
I would love October, but we have no time off. We actually have time off in early November, but that's getting too cold!
If it ends up being early June, I'll still be there in spirit!!

Told you I'd get my vote in soon. Other Gatherings about that time in June have worked well, so that's what I voted for. Besides, if I want a ride with my sister, I'd better vote with her. Actually, I'd try to be there whenever it occurs.

I voted for June 14-15, but then started thinking better of it because of Nancy and others that will still be in xchool. Maybe June 21-22 would be better.

We are having a drought in western NC... grass is all brown, wildifres, etc. and I just figured out why. NO MOHICAN GATHERING!!! Usually we have it around Fathers' Day weekend, and it ALWAYS rains during a Gathering. Always. But this is our "off-year" and you see: no rain!

My father carries a blackfoot name, "Rain Follows Him" and does it ever!!!
You can't go on a vacation with him or even an amusement park! Totally serious.
Maybe I'll tell him to go to NC for a weekend. |

I voted for 21-22 because the school I work at will be done classes
then. But I could go to the earlier week too as I have someone to
cover for me. I'd rather not go in October as more tourists would
slow us down.
I had a great time with April this month in Orlando. I'm so glad I
met her last June. She's fearless and will try anything. She rode
"The Hulk" at Islands of Adventure. I bowed out of course since I've
had my days on the extreme rides and don't enjoy them anymore.
We both loved the Spiderman ride the best.
Can't wait for next June!

I have tried for years to make it to a gathering but havent succeeded yet. Hear's hoping 2008 is my lucky year.
I voted for the begining of June cause I work at a college and we usually have new student orientations at the end of June.
