There is a hidden forum here where planners of Gatherings meet and secretly plan these things ... ... but, for those planners and possible attendees [sometimes, one & the same] who want to jot down ideas, suggestions, likes & dislikes, etc. for the next planned Mohican Gathering [2008] out here in the open, maybe it's time to get started. Nothing like infectious enthusiasm to keep a ball rolling toward the finish line!

Depending on health and finances, I may try to come to this next one. I've kinda missed Smurf, Red, the Scots, Gadget Girl, my three bunkmates, and the rest of the old loony crowd. Oh! And you too Rich! My plans these days just seem to go awry though due to health issues coming up, or finances, or family stuff. My oldest son is finally getting married to his college sweetheart and girlfriend of all these years. Kinda exciting. Says it's something historical as to location in Philly. Will be end of April. That's gonna take some bucks outta the fixed income. But we'll see.........
So. To those ideas. Perhaps we can get The Scooter Store to lend us some of those things and have a scooter race. Or maybe an oxygen bottle relay race. Prizes for whoever has the most pills in their pillbox? A memory test on top of Chimney Rock? Ask of thee questions three.....what's your name. (look at tag sewn inside your skivvies) What's your birthday. (put glasses on and check driver license) What's your favorite color (red. No! Blue! ARGGGGH). That was a play on Monty Python for you youngsters. A classic.

Dancer, Once you go to one Gathering, you will be hooked and have to attend all of them. I have been to two of them and I still can't wait until June 2008 gets here. It's only 17 months away!!! It will be great to be able to meet you and hopefully other newbies!!! Please try to make it if you can!!!

Finally! Somebody other than me is quoting monty Python on this site!
As for the gathering, I'd love to come in 2008. Most likely I'll still be in NC by that time (because I'll NEVER graduate!), so I really don't have an excuse not to come, as I see it. I live right near RDU airport (and am not likely to be moving any time soon), so I could help with transportation if needed. Or whatever!
I've been looking through the pics of former gatherings, and it looks like a lot of fun. I love hiking, so what could be better than hiking AND getting to know other Mohicanlanders in person? |

Aawwwww, Obi! You gotta' come. I'm trying like the Dicken's to get Irish to go. If I succeed I'm sure we can find a mud pit or sink hole maybe even a shallow pond that we can rough you up in!
Even if Irish doesn't make it Red will be there! I have a gut feeling she'll be a good stand in!
BTW, Red. So cool you're going. We'll have to be bunkmates. (And don't read too much into that, you guys - you too Irish! I won't even bother clearing it up as it only makes it worse!)
As a suggestion we'd love to see Ching and Uncas there. Anyway we can invite them? We'll behave I promise! |

Light, Russell was at the 2004 Gathering and Eric was at an earlier Gathering. That was before my time. They also had Wes at one of the Gatherings. I think that it would be great if Madeleine would be our guest of honor. I can guarantee that almost every guy in Mohicanland would be at the Gathering if she was there. The Gatherings are great fun and if it rains, then I think that there would be a few mud pits for y'all.

Light, Well, the men have been so good aout the male actors being our honored guests, we could at least let them have one year with a female guest. Personally, I would love to meet Daniel, but I would hate to think how much it would cost to get him to a Gathering. They don't come for free, so if anybody did actually consent to come, then we would have to do a fundraiser to get them there. We will just have to wait and see.

Hi Kay, ... . Good idea to mention the cost of having a big-wig at an "event". Back when I lived in Maine, what's known as the mid-coast region, there's a country club that has a celebrity golfing "charity event" evey year. In most cases big New England sports names are invited, any sport. Back then, the Bruins supplied quite a few "big names" - almost free. In any event, one year they decided to ask Red Sox "Hall Of Famer" Carl Yastrzemski. Don't confuse him with a Bruin, ... to "show up" was a tidy ten grand. ... In those days, the Bruins were top drawer, Bobby Orr and company. Yas never never got his 10K ... at least not "up there".

Why don't we invite Master Waddington the the festivities? Then we could set him on the board above the giant water tank & people could throw balls at the target, which, if hit, releases the board & sends whoever's on it into the drink. ... Think of it! A kindler gentler "Dunkin' Donuts!" |

MG and Light, Well, you can kind of understand that making appearances at different functions is part of the way that they make their living, although if I remember right, Russell only asked for plane fare and accomodations. I don't think that we paid him a fee. I could be wrong, but I don't think so, but that is only because Ros ( a long time member of Mohicanland) is a very good friend of Russell's. In fact, we didn't even have to pay for plane fare because another long time member used his miles for Russell and Pearl's flight. So we did pretty good that year, and I really enjoyed listening to Russell.

Obi, You say that as a joke, but I would love for Steven Waddington to be our guest, but that is pretty doubtful too!!!

Speaking of te-kill-ya! I have some Tequila Gold imported by my hand from MX to my home. 1 shot will do ya' but if you're anything like me you're a gluten for punishment. I can hold Tequila pretty good. After #7 I start doing all kinds of crazy things.
A Cancun memory: 7 Sex On The Beach 5 Tequila Sunrise 4 Shots of Tequila Gold
Good Lord! I fell out of the bar stool twice, I was talking to walls, went in the wrong bathroom (I swear that stick figure was wearing a skirt!) Tripped over my own feet, landed face first, gave up walking and crawled to the ladies room barking like a dog. When I finally made it in a stall I sat on the ground laughing my ass off. My friend came in and asked if I was okay. I told her I was fine, just trying to decide if I wanted to throw up or pass out. I didn't do either. But I did learn from the natives that mineral water, salt, and lime is a good way to kill a buzz no matter how far you got. Within 30mins. I was completely sober and steaming at the ears!! Had to go to another bar just to get another buzz going! Even worse, I am a guilt free drunk. No matter how trashed I get I don't get hang overs!

Light, I think that if I did all of that, I would swear off the stuff!!! Of couse, this comes from a teetotaler(sp?) I haven't had a drink since my early 20's when my head was hung over a toilet all night and I just asked God to let me make it through the night and I wouldn't ever drink again. Well, he let me live and I kept my promise to him.

Yeah Kay, I'm with you on that. I don't swear it off but it's rare that I drink it, usually on a special occasion, and NOW I'm smart enough to do only one or two shots. It always amazes me how crazy I was in my 20's. Looking back on it I laugh at a lot of it but man...I don't think you could get me to be that stupid again. Eleven years will really change things for ya'.
Sorry to hear about your experience. Kinda' takes the fun out of a buzz. Kudos for keeping a promise to God! Very commendable!
Anyway, as said before it's been yeeeeaaaarrrssss, and thank God, a memory. |

Light, Here's to memories. BTW, that is ginger ale in those mugs.
Getting back on subject, I found a great prize for either the raffle or Ariel's Auction next year. I have been looking for this a long time and finally found one. It is a children's book written by Wes Studi. It is called "The Adventures of Billy Bean." I can't wait for it to come in. I will have it for a year at least before I have to depart with it, but I will donate it as a prize. Trust me, it is a very hard book to locate, but with a little help from friends, I found one. Now, I have to really get to work on the raffle because I only have a little over a year before our next gathering. so if anybody has anything that they want to donate for the raffle, let me know. if y'all don't have anything right now, don't worry, I will be pestering y'all for months to come about the donations

The book that Wes Studi wrote came in today. Yaaay!!! It will be great for anyone that has children or grandchildren. I haven't read it yet, but I skimmed through it and it seems to be a book that teaches life lessons. I think that someone will really love this book, and to bid on it and know that it will be helping a beautiful little girl next year will make it even more special.
Well, does anyone have any suggestions for next year? Any favorite things that we definitely have to do or any things that you really didn't care for? We need to start thinking about it and getting some feedback,so that we can start planning for next year. Can you tell that I am ready for another Gathering.
