Check out this place! It's on Hwy 221 between Marion, NC and Louise's Famous Rock House Restaurant, so it could possibly be considered for a Gathering lodging option. Tammy and I stopped in there on a scouting expedition on Sunday and I was quite impressed... the rates for a room are $70-$80/night, with an anticipated price increase for 2008 (don't know how much yet). There is also a 3 bedroom apartment that rents for $200-$220/night. Some of the rooms have double or king beds and some have twin beds.
Don't anybody make any reservations just yet until we explore other options, but I just thought I'd pass this idea long. Check it out!

Good morning, Stephanie

It looks lovely and seems a great location. I've marked it as a "favorite" should Claude and I decide to visit the area at a time other than a Gathering. I'm not sure yet about our attendance in '08 but one thing is for certain, we both have missed everyone and would love to make it. Thanks for checking this out.

It was pretty. Never been to a gathering and wanted to ask if the mohicanlanders usually book individually or as a group?

Are there any cabins in the area? I know when I go to Gaitlinburg I rent a cabin instead of a hotel. Price is close to the same when splitting it with one other person and it has the kitchen right there to.

As far as "booking" we've done it both individually and as a group, however, for the most part almost everyone stays at the same location.

Sunshine,
There are lots of cabins in this area and I will certainly explore that option. I looked at a few cabin rentals for 2006 but what I ran into was not being able to get everyone near each other. Most cabin rental places only have a few cabins... and like Theresa said we usually try to have most people staying at the same place if possible. It certainly makes it easier. But, in the long run, accommodations suggestions are offered but it is up to you where you make your reservation.
This Blue Ridge Inn does have a 3 BR "apartment" available which includes a kitchen.
I'll check into other possibilities as well.

The Bear Den cabins are also very close to the Marion area (just be prepared to be QUIET after 10PM or the golf cart police will come get you ). They are VERY nice cabins too.

If we were to go back to the Chimney Rock area, there are MANY cabins in that area also.

Looks great....but do they accept pets...I didn't see any info on that....you know we have to bring Bailey the Mohican adventure dog...she can't wait for the auction.

If not, no problem we can just stay at the same place we did in 06...but it would be fun to be closer to the group.

Thanks Stephanie. A cabin is first choice for me. If I have a flushing toliet, comfy bed and shower with decent water pressure I am a happy camper. Yup not picky at all

Some of us started to go to Marion and get you last time. But we got busy with something else.

Well, if we stay in Marion, then Rich can't duck out on us. Hey, I have an idea, let's all bring our sleeping bags and we will just stay in Rich's apartment. It will cut down on hotel costs.

Love,
Kay
