Well, Sgt. Munro, here in Alabama...and probably other parts in the South...it's neither pop nor soda...everything carbonated down here is a coke.

You're right Theresa. I remember on any of the military bases in the south that I was TDY to, you could have any soft drink from a machine, as long as it was a Coca-Cola or Royal Crown product. The first time I asked where the Pepsi machine was, I told that there was no 'Yankee Coke' here. That, in and of itself, made me chuckle.

On the other hand, Sarge, if you had been stationed in the Pacific Northwest and asked for a pop... they would have known exactly what you were talking about. I had to break myself of the habit when I moved to New Yawk. It was always "pop" to me!
