Hello everyone,

I'm new to this (new format board)!
Ugh, I feel very strange to this new board. Almost feel like when I submit my post, that something is gonna pop up and state FLASHING, that I "did this wrong, please go back and try again!" LOL

I've loved the film LOTM from since it first came out in the movies! I think it's because of the music, I've fallen in love with the music, and think it fits the film so well. There's just something about this film that hypnotizes you, and keeps one coming back for more! LOL
Must excuse me, as I'm sometimes oblivious to some of the things you people talk about, or certain names, historical incidences Re: the film. Dosen't matter, it's fun anyway!
I have known Rich and Elaine for some time, just two the nicest people!
I DO enjoy when Rich talks about the old days in (his music era)!

I must admit, I'm not used to this new board, don't really understand how to use it properly. I may even miss a post from some of you. Guess it'll finally click after a little while! LOL

Well, just wanted to say hello to all!

I have some interesting LotM non-fiction
(some from my previous posts)...

regarding individuals portraying military in the movie:

1. One re-enactor was taking a group of females to court seeking
restitution for clothes that had been damaged when they
"ravaged" him.

2. I met a number of vietnam vets on the set. One particular
was fond of alcohol... which didn't mix well with his
prescribed painkiller, codeine.

3. The military stayed in a campground. Bring your own tent
and the production company paid for all else. One group
of guys decided to drink all of another perons beer. This
angered the now beerless guy. He took it upon himself to
exact revenge. The next day the beer stealers found a
present in their cooler which they had kept outside. Someone
left (or should i say dumped?), a cowpie inside.

4. Much drinking went on off set. One re-enactor would lock
himself in his car while holding a gun.

5. A bunch of re-enactors were put up in townhouses.
They sometimes delighted in pitching throwing stars at
the wall. One time they were doing so while another drunk
re-enactor was up against the wall.

6. While filming munro's column a day was spent with all
the extras/reenactors laying on the ground as dead.
Buzzards started to circle.

7. A little frustrated from 12 hour shooting schedules the
re-enactors would get back to camp and video-tape re-enactments
of the scenes. The fort surrender scene had so many takes
that it was re-enacted in full... including the lines stephen
waddington (heyward) kept flubbing.

8. One re-enactor was a blacksmith and set up a makeshift furnace
in the camp complete with fan and metal trash can. Among items
made were pins for the highlanders kilts.

9. The military re-enactors trained prior to shooting.
Training first included using a ramrod to simulate musket
packing. This was quickly abandoned when one re-enactor left
the ramrod in during one practice volley. It didn't help
someone was in front of the "recruits" when firing.

10. The ground surrounding fort henry were cleared of many snakes
for the safety of the crew/cast, etc. The only person to
be bit was the set nurse.

11. The Muskets used were real. During one scene on the biltmore
estate a lightning storm broke out. Needless to say 100
people holding metal rods in their hands in a wide open
space wasn't a smart thing. A dash for the bus ensued.

12. During the Munro surrender scene Michael Mann's daughter
happily walked around offering the extra's a damp towel
for comfort from the heat. Heat exhaustion did claim
a number of extras throughout the filming shot in July
and early August.
