Get it from a successful bear hunter friend, MG, or I can send you some. I am not sure if you can buy it. Just make sure all the water has been cooked out of it when it is rendered or it will turn rancid on you..... |

No more family genealogy! No more family history! No more postings on this movie board!
You can all breathe a sigh of relief now!
My time will be devoted to furthering the cause of Native American people, which I have been doing over the years. I am involved with historical research here in America and Europe, and that will take up considerable time.
I may also be going overseas to entertain the Armed Forces troops with our Native American group. We already held a mini pow-wow for the Navy troops returning from Iraq, at Norfolk Navy Base, in Norfolk,
I am also involved in seeking tombstones from the Veterans Administration to have placed on Revolutionary soldier graves who are ancestors.

Glad to do what I can, WW, but believe me, if you had ever witnessed any of what my husband calls my "encounters with technology," you might not have put me, even metaphorically, anywhere near a flintlock ready to fire!
But it's an image I like, nevertheless. My husband's best friend, Brett, was hunting deer with another friend during flintlock season, and the friend mentioned how much he loved flintlocks and how he had tried, to no avail, to persuade his wife to appreciate them. Brett shook his head sadly and said, "I've only ever known one woman who appreciates flintlocks. She even has a subscription to Muzzleloader." I was so proud! (Actually the subscription is in my husband's name, but he rarely looks at the magazine.) And I do wish more women appreciated flintlocks and other true colonial crafts, instead of that insipid style known to those of us who hate it as "country bunny throws up." But that topic isn't related to Fort Necessity, either . . . . |

Well BW, if your friend Brett knew me... he would know two!
I have a not-so-secret desire to purchase and own a flintlock pistol. In fact, if Seamus looks quite closely at the one he purchased at the recent Contemporary Longrifle Association Show in PA... he will see some dried drool on the gorgeous smooth wood of the grip. That's mine.
It is also my dream to learn how to load and shoot a long rifle or a musket. I hope that will come to fruition in September when we have our 18th Century Weekend at Seamus' cabin. I know of several soldiers who are just itching to teach me to shoot, and I can't wait!

Seamus recently purchased a flintlock pistol? After not so long ago purchasing a flintlock rifle made just for him? Does Goodwife Nancy know? But seriously -- I guess at our age, "If not now, when?" is a good philosophy to live by. |

How much are you wanting to spend? I have a couple for sale. These are English Heavy Dragoon pistols and nothing like what would be found at the CLA auction, but very nice sturdy pistols. |

Well, the problem is that at this point in my life, I have no extra money that I can spend on a pistol. So, it must remain a dream, for now.
At any rate, I would want something on the smaller size that my smaller hands could handle. Arthritis has weakened my grip quite a bit over the past 10 years or so. |
