Hi all! Long time, no post! I was thrilled to learn of the creation of Hickory Nut Gorge State Park. I graduated in December '05 and I am going for a full time job interview tomorrow
A special hello to Rich, Christina, and Gadget Girl! How are you all?
Anyhow, I wanted to point out that Dougie Maclean is on tour in the US and he is coming to Maryland this Saturday night-performing in the auditorium of my sister's (Class of '02) former highschool, the Berman Hebrew Academy! [not an academy program, but rented out for the occasion]

[Site for purchasing tickets for Rockville, MD concert.]
I already have my ticket ordered, and since the concert begins after the Sabbath... I can go with no problem!!!
So, I thought I'd let you all know...
Best in everything.
Sincerely, Ariel Segal

Who's Dougie Maclean? I think I've heard the name before, but the website didn't jog my memory any.
Good luck on your interview, Ariel! |

Hey Red,
You know that really neat song that is heard often on the soundtrack of LOTM? The one with the fiddle? The one that is played while Hawkeye is walking through the fort to find Cora, and continues on through The Kiss? It' called "The Gael."
Dougie McLean wrote that. |
"It is more deeply stirring to my blood than any imaginings could possibly have been." |

Neat! Thanks, WW. I guess that solves the mystery of where I've heard the name "Dougie Maclean" before. Probably on this website! |

Good luck with your interview, let's us know how it goes!
And what a talented man. I can listen to those two songs over and over and over and over again.

Hi all. The concert was GREAT! It's interesting-Dougie's songs are so passionate and often solemn and bittersweet, but the patter and shtick he does between songs is Hilarious!
He often had to take a drink of water, and he looked at the water distastefully, because it wasn't whisky
Also, after a huge snowfall in their previous venue, Potsdam, NY, Dougie's guitar was slightly out of tune due to the cold weather in MD, so he kept retuning that and making the process very funny as well.
I got 2 pictures, but they are kind of far away...I may try to scan them later.
Finally...I GOT THE JOB!
I'll be working for a Dietary Supplement Database at the National Agricultural Library.

Best to everyone.

Congrats! I don't know what a "Dietary Supplement Database" worker does, but it sounds pretty snazzy. Best wishes on the new job! |
