Well, the Whitney's made it home as well. Just getting around to taking the time to post. Add one more victim to the bug. I didn't think we would ever get home. Thankfully the bathrooms along the way were plentiful!!!! We had an awesome time this year ( as usual ) thanks to many of you who made David feel so welcome as a first timer. Now, many of you know that Nathan is NOT an only child. Far from it in fact. My dream is to bring all of my daughters one day since they are older and knew of our movie long ago. Maybe some day. It was good to get to know some of you better, it seems more like family every time we get together. As Eric said at the movie, we are quite a family. Eric and Sharon I sure hope you are able to stop our way when you are in the area. We are so excited ..... Sharon, hope things went well for you on Tuesday. Well, it is way late for me to be up so here's to another great Mohican Gathering, may the next one be even sweeter! Hello Sweetser's! Kathy |

Hey Kathy!
Good to hear you guys are home safe and sound. Sorry 'bout the bug...I somehow managed to miss out on that so I know it wasn't the food as I had plenty of it...probably more than I sould have.
David is a sweetheart and I'm so glad you brought him. Happy to know he enjoyed himself. Maybe you can make it a complete family trip sometime, we'd love that.
I was so moved my Nathan's story and am truly impressed with the log cabin project. Someday he's gonna make some sweet thang mighty happy.
Lovely to see you and Mark again and to be able to spend more time with you...one of the luxuries of a long Gathering I suppose. |

Yeh, I do remember the Yip-Yip Martians conversation, not because I was involved, because I was driving back from Asheville with Christina, Ariel, and Kate. Got to much involved with listening, got lost while driving back to the Geneva. I think it took an extra 45 minutes to get back. Regarding the Fashion Doll, I collect Navaho and Hopi kachina doll - probably have about 12 total. I also have a few cornhusk dolls as well. I thought it would be a perfect compliment. I would say the best thing for the Gathering for me was really getting to know people real well and call them all close friends.
With Honor,

Hi all!
Well I'm glad that I was finally able to register and actually be able to sign on and post. It's a good feeling.
I had a blast this year... I never wanted it to end. It really is a great thing to be able to go somewhere besides here and be myself, do what I enjoy, talk about what I love, with a group of friends that don't think I'm a little bit off the wall.
So how is everybody? I'm hoping sometime soon to be able to get a picture of my little log cabin up on the board for you guys to see. (It's not even finished yet). I really enjoyed seeing you all again this year and getting to spend some more time with you and getting to know you more. I honestly don't think I'd trade it for anything. I love it!!!

Hey Nathan...cutie patootie!
Glad you found you way here, too. As I told many at the Gathering this year, it's so refreshing to see young folk enjoying something like this...and enjoying it with their family. A rare thing.
I loved your story your mom shared with us. AND...I look forward to seeing that thar log cabin of yourn, too. Stay in touch. Tell your mom and dad hello...and David, too! |

Hey Nathan and family! Nice to hear from you on the board and glad to know you made it home safely. I can't wait to see the picture of your cabin!!! That is so cool and I am just in awe that you have done that. Now Theresa, watch out with the cute nicknames and such! I'd hate to have to push you off Magua Rock at CRP (you AND the Sweetsers!!!!) Just kidding! Kathy, it would be so great to meet the rest of your family. If they are anything like David and Nathan, then you have done an excellent job as a parent (Mark, too!). Nathan is always such a joy to have around and I'm so glad David was able to join us this year as well. Love, Stephanie |

I'd be very interested in hearing about Michael Williams' journey into Mohicanland -- theory meeting reality, I guess. Did he express his thoughts on the Gathering? |

You know, I asked Michael Williams on Saturday at the Mohican Games how his views about the Gathering had changed now that he had actually attended one. He said he wasn't sure, that he would need to mull it over. I believe he and his family were heading to Mexico after leaving Mohicanland, so I'm not sure when he will be returning home. Hopefully we will hear from him, though. I'd like to know what he thought, too. His presentation was very interesting, I thought. I really enjoyed it and it got me to thinking about a lot of things. Great picture, Nathan!!! Thanks for that!
Regarding Michael Williams ... he sends out a "Vacation Journal" newsletter to his friends & for some reason, I am one of the recipients. He's on a 4-weeker. When he's done, perhaps I'll post some thoughts. Till then, I feel he regards us as a "cult" ... literally. Oh well ... Perhaps I misjudge.
I, too, enjoyed his presentation, and re-reading through his hand-out this past weekend. |

Any chance that hand-out could be posted, Sachem? With Mr. Williams' permission, of course...
P.S. Cute photo, Nathan! |

Hey there, m’ friends!!
It’s good to hear that each of the various Gathering folks are making it home, safe and sound! Thought I’d just put a few thoughts on paper ~
1) I’M SO PLEASED TO HEAR THAT YOU GOT YOUR KEYS BACK, CHRISTINA!!! That’s just GREAT! Those folks at Cherokee are wonderful, to get them to you so quickly, knowing how concerned your were. That’s what I call a generous spirit!
2) I too had the dreaded lurgy (That’s the Scottish euphemism for anything that has you stopping at every pit stop between here and timbuctu!) for awhile! I was fine until I got to Chimney Rock – and then… I just assumed that it was the different water. Well… you know how they always tell you when you go travelling, to ‘beware the local water’… and so, I put it down to that. NO – I’m not saying yer water’s BAD! But the composition of chemicals is different to ours… and you just get USED TO… oh, you know what I mean. I’m sure it was a bug – not a DANGEROUS bug but… obviously very contagious! However, I do hope everyone has recovered/is recovering nicely, from THAT little… bug… It didn't seem to stop anyone doing what they wanted to do - that's the main thing!
3) As to Michael Williams dissertation, well, it was… interesting! I can’t say that I’d really THOUGHT about many of those points he made (which is no great surprise, all things considered! ) And though, I didn’t agree with many of his ideas, but I HAVE TO SAY – I found HIS take on the subject very interesting!! In RETROSPECT, it would have been really good to have him talk for an hour or two in a proper ‘slot’ at the Gathering, preferably in a less formal manner, where we could ‘discuss’ and perhaps have a ‘question and answer’ period. Well… it was that kind of topic, I thought… ANYHOW perhaps another time.
But… a ‘cult’??? HOW BIZARRE!!! Heheheheee.. I can’t quite believe – I’m part of a CULT!!! WOW!!!! And ye know, I always saw myself as my own person, with my own, very personal ideas – and that it would be nigh on impossible for ANYONE to recruit me to ANYTHING through high-pressure indoctrination!!! JUST GOES TO SHOW YE HOW PERSUASIVE SOME CULT LEADERS CAN BE!!!!
4) Yes Patrick, I agree!! The Gathering is SURELY a special time for greeting ‘old’ friends and for hugging and saying ‘hey’ to those sweet folks from the Board whom we didn’t know previously!! And I want to say that it was GREAT having you and Ariel as travelling buddies – and getting to know both of YOU a little better!! Thanks for your company!
5) I have to say - it was also terrific to get to know Russell and Pearl Means! It was terrific the way they mingled and moved among everyone and got to talking with whoever they happened to be standing beside. Pearl was a real sweetheart!! She bought Raffle tickets and WHOOPED WITH DELIGHT when she won!!! Not only that, she took the time to actively seek me out to tell me JUST HOW PLEASED SHE WAS with the article she won! Now THAT was a NICE thing to do!!! I have to admit… before the Gathering, I let things I’d heard, and articles I’d read, form my opinion about Russell Means. But I was wrong to do that. I should have done what I usually do – meet the person and form MY OWN opinion about someone. HOWSEVER, Russell has paid me back BIG TIME! He has set me a… challenging task and to pay penance (which I deserve to do!) – but mostly because I thought he and Pearl were SO DARNED NICE, I’ll do what I can to help him. And… I sincerely hope that he and Pearl have taken home as many nice memories as we have!
6) I’m thinking the ONE OF THE HIGHTLIGHTS of my Gathering has got to be FINALLY seeing the location of ‘The Elk Hunt/Tracking the War Party’!!! As some folks can testify, I have tried and TRIED to make it to that location – only to have the chance disappear before my eyes each time! Well… THIS TIME I MADE I |

Let me get this straight, he believes we're a cult? What like "Children Of The Corn" or something?
I will say that some people have thought and posted the darnest things over the years, but this one is a doozy.
HAHAHA! Count me in!
