Well, what can I say? Another wonderful Gathering with friends surrounded by those glorious mountains...what an adventcha, indeed!
Just wanted to drop a line to let you all know I was home and missing everybody already. There'll be more to come from my perspective later but for now, there's a week worth of "husband" to catch up on.
Love all of you...and Rich, you looked quite spiffy in those duds yesterday.
P.S....Carter, I've got your video! We'll talk later. |

"Home Safe" I got home at 9pm. I've been busy on the phone catching up with family. Had a nice ride back. Thanks Jo for the peppermint gum. It did help me stay alert since I didn't get into a room until about 1am. A lot of the rooms in Virginia were booked up because of the Miss Virginia beauty contest. (Thanks a lot........ ugh....) Thanks Mark for helping lighten the load in my car. I think it really helped. No scraping the bottom on the way out. I'll write more tomorrow. Have to get some sleep...... I hope everyone has safe trips home...... Donna |

Hi Rich and all, Well, we made it home. Actually, I was home much earlier today, but I wanted to spend some time with my family. It is hard to be away from them for a whole week!!! Even if I did have a wonderful time, I am still glad to be back with my husband and son. I want to thank everybody that made me, Cindy, Phyllis, and Kim feel so welcome!!! Y'all are the greatest!!! Here are a couple pictures of some very happy gatherers.

Jeff and I have been checking in nightly to see the latest news and photos of the Gathering. We are so glad to see eveyone having so much fun! We so hope that the "Gatherings" will continue, because we would love our children to not only experience it, but meet the special people that make it the "ad'venture" that it is!
So glad to hear everyone is arriving home safely
All of us are looking forward to the whole lowdown on the events... you lucky guys you...
P.S. Donna, you look so skinny! Jeff almost didn't recognize you from the photos! You've been working out, haven't you?
as always, your friend, Caitlin |

I arrived home safely last night, tired but content...having just attended the best Gathering ever (they are all that way, aren't they?) Many thanks to the hard workers who helped put together this wonderful experience...and thanks to Divine intervention for the selectively perfect weather (wet on the days we needed to be cool and could afford to be damp and dry for the concerts, the play and the Games).
Note to Stephanie, Theresa, Carter and the other smitten ladies at Louise's...his name is (believe it or not)John Smith, he lives in Asheville and is coming to the Bill Miller concert at Spirits on July 23rd. Stephanie, we expect you to take many pictures (panoramic size, please, to accomodate all seven feet of him!). Further note: I DO have his phone number...and I can be bribed! |

Al-l-l-l-l-righty now. Lady Ann. You simply cannot drop a tidbit of fascinating information like this without telling us'n poor, deprived, female non-Gatherers (who are right now sitting on the edges of our seats) what it is all about!
No, no, no... we do most gently, but fervently, insist on hearing the entire story, with not one little, itty-bitty detail left out. er...... Please?

We arrived back in Indiana after a slightly lengthened trip - Karen & I were hit with whatever "not-so-friendly" bug hit Cherie earlier in the week! We know many bathrooms between Chimney Rock and Indiana very well! Thank goodness for Don's patience and understanding!!
Anyway, we're home and much better now. Having fun reminiscing already. Many of you asked me if Don had a good time. Well, he has never visited the website before...but last night he called out "Hey - here we are! Now you've got me caught up in this thing". Lo and behold - he managed to find Mohicanland all by his ownself. (Could it be that bottle of brandy he won in the shooting match??) Anyway, the week was super to say the least. Ariel's auction was once again a huge success (will post auction tidbits on the Ariel forum) and lots of fun to put together. Thanks to all who donated and/or bid on the 75-plus items! And thanks to all the others who worked so hard to put this Gathering together! It was amazing to see it unfold into the week it became! Rain or shine, events were done. Even the soggy-bottom, mud-slide hike at the falls, especially in the afternoon! Couldn't get much wetter than that, but everyone was still in great spirits and having some good laughs.
So from a tired but content Ariel's auction proprietress, you all have a good week recuperating and remembering! We sure will!

Marc and I arrived home late last night, had to take a side trip to pick up our son. And then were off again Thursday, so lots of cleaning and repacking going on here.
Jayne, I too got hit again on the way home with that BUG!!!. Boy thats a killer!!!.
We had a fab time again this year, I do have some pic we will down load tonight.
Just a tidbit on the river for those not there. MARC went in the drink 6 TIMES . And has one of the BIGGEST bruises I have ever seen on his butt.... (you will have to take my word on that one ). Karen Williamson also took a quicker way down the river once, and poor John H... Well his boat left him once, so he had to JUMP into the river in order not to be the LAST of the Gatherers on a rock!!!.
More later Cherie

On Day 2 I was late getting to Louise's and missed the group, so I tracked them to Table Rock. Again, there were cars with Gathering flags, but everyone was gone. There was a sign which said that Table Rock was to the right, so I went up the trail yelling "I will find you!" Well, I didn't, but I did find this.
Later I really did find the group, but not at Table Rock. |

Hi, Fitz!
Bet you mean Table Rock, not Chimney Rock. Don & I were late and caught up with the group, too. I knew to go to the left and about how far to go before climbing the steep hill up to the top, but after that it was a guess. Thank goodness for the (ahem) robust talking and laughing to guide our way! "I will find you" took on a whole new meaning .

Well Vincent if you want to talk rumors and bribes, perhaps I need to mention our dear lovely Debby's letter "V" that is carved into her arm? Eh?
Seriously, are you two home already? I was only at the Games a short time today and I missed seeing you two and wasn't sure if you were still around or what. Hope you had a safe trip home.
Okay, for those who weren't around, besides the phone call to Wes Studi there was a little more excitement at the top of the falls at Chimney Rock. Debby had an accidental run-in with a hatchet, and the incident somehow left her with a letter "V" carved into her arm. V as in Vincent! Coincidence? I think not! I took a picture but it wasn't digital so I can't share it yet. And apparently I can be bribed....
Great to see you both again! Steph
Hello all! Debbie and I arrived back safely on Saturday. Rumor was the 'hatchet person' was an (indirect) apprentice of "Bill the Butcher".
Hey Fitz! Just had a chance to wave hello to you at the covered bridge at Dupont State Forest before you did the smart thing and headed back to your car. The rest of us continued on. Marc wants to find a name to rival 'The Death Walk (or was it also called March?) of 2002'. My two cents would be 'The Wet & Wild Masochist March of 2004'. Despite the name we all seemed to have a fun time. Any other suggestions? |

Hi all! I got back to Columbia last night after spending some time in Chimney Rock doing "last minute" shopping, then a side trip to Soldier No 2's house for some visiting and great food...appropriately, the rain that held off for us at some opportune times during this GREAT Gathering hit me on the way home! 70 miles through a downpour...thank God I was in the car and not on that last leg of the "Wet and Wild Masochist March!!!" Anyway, it's going to take some time for me to get my act back together and download all the pictures I took and send some to the Board, but it WILL happen! Thanks guys for a fantastic week...I miss you all already! Peace, Christina aka "Red" |

I would have gone on myself, except that I had to drive back to Greenville and pick up Cindy before the movie. I had hoped to make it to the falls, but when the time got to 2:30, I figured it was time to head back. |

Speaking of the "specimen" ...I was telling Claude about our conversation at Louise's...seems he had the opportunity to have a smoke with him outside Spirits during the Bill Miller concert...ARGH!! Now he tells me! He said he thought he remembered him saying he was a relative of Bill's. Anne? Did Flip indicate that? |

Glad all of you are checking in and letting us know you made it home. Sorry about the bug! Fitz for some reason your picture at Table Rock made me laugh...that seemed to be one of the themes this year: getting seperated from the group. Believe me, there were times when I was the "last of the Mohican Gatherers" as well. Even though I only saw you briefly from time to time, I'm glad you were able to join us again this year!! Steph |

Hey, Stephanie.
I'm thinking the hike could be the Soggy-bottom Mudslide Hike! I believe "your" FL trip went to Nancy!
Thanks for bailing Don & I out at Spirits, and for telling em it was an honest mistake (hehe).
Is this mystery man the one who attended the Bill Miller concert last year?? If so, I can remember doing a little melting number when he bought some Ariel tickets!!!

Yes Jayne, he's the one. And we ALL know who you mean...there were quite a few melted puddles of female lust at that particular concert!
Theresa, Claude needs to be flogged for not divulging his close association with Mr. Smith sooner. Tell him we need to know absolutely every detail about that conversation! And no, Flip didn't say anything about the mystery man being related to Bill Miller (though come to think of it, there was a distinct resemblance....at the time I was too befuddled to think!)
Stephanie, you MUST attend that concert and you MUST take pictures. It is a sacred mission, to benefit all the women of Mohicanland. If you fail, we WILL find you!
As for the Florida basket, Nancy did indeed win...but since she didn't have the vacation time left for the trip, she graciously gave the basket to Kaye, Cindy and Phyllis..I will be hosting them in early spring. But Stephanie, I would be HAPPY to host you and your fiance as well...same room, same terms, trips to Disney, the Rawlings house and all. Least I can do in exchange for that memorable day at Cherokee. Plus I just LOVE having Mohicanlanders about...particularly ones who will have had an "up close and personal" encounter with the seven foot man! Seriously, email me. I want you both to come.

Jayne, I feel your pain!!! I had to get Cindy to pull into various gas stations and McDonald's on the way home. That is why it took us longer than usual to make it home. Whatever that nasty bug was, I am glad that it waited until the Gathering was over to attack us!!! I am also glad that you and Karen are feeling better.

Well I, too, was afflicted with a mild case of the "complaint" on Sunday morning. Although I was at the Mohican Games Day, I did not eat there (except for a small sample of the turkey) so I am certain that whatever afflicted us had nothing to do with the food. Just some sort of bug that my generous Mohicanite friends passed along. Thanks!
Christina, a couple of questions for you: 1. did you locate your keys? 2. How was your dinner with Ching??? We want details!
Congrats to Nancy for winning the Fl. trip (really) and I hope that the ladies she passed it along to will enjoy it! Ann I might just take you up on a day or two. The first week of March I think I will be attending a conference in Orlando for my job, so perhaps I can swing by and see you then! We'll be in touch! Thanks for your offer.

Ok ... now you've all piqued my interest, as well. And it ain't about no seven-foot man, neither!
