Seamus,
I know you are out and about this weekend, but I hope you will see this when you return.

I was doing some web surfing and found information about the planned 250th Anniversary of the Kittanning Expedition in 2006. Of course, I thought of you and wondered if you are planning to participate in the Expedition again? If so, will you be portraying Lt. Col. Armstrong again?

www.reenacting.net/kittanning2006/

Now be sure to tell us all about your weekend at the Conrad Weiser homestead.

Yes, my dear, Good Lord willing, I will be there, and I am the Colonel. I am an organizer of the event, also. We hope to have a large force to enter the town in 2006, perhaps equal to Armstrong's 307 men in 1756. It is not necessary to do the entire 126 miles, but it is important to be there the last day. However, no matter how good it is,and it WILL be special, it will never match the 2000 trek, a totally awesome event. Anyone who wants to join in is asked to let us know now, so we can include you with info mailings and updates as they occur. It is not too early to let your intentions be known.

Have you been to

www.mohicanpress.com/kittanning.html

to read my Journal of the Kittanning Trek 2000?

And is it music from Braveheart we hear there, in honor of Armstrong's Scottish heritage?

I must confess, Seamus, that I had not... until now. I have just spent a most enjoyable hour or so reading your Journal. I have giggled, had my eyes well up with tears, and I have also experienced another emotion: jealousy! (Why is it that men get to have all of the fun?!?)

I can easily see why you are looking forward to doing it all again. Setting aside the discomforts of dangerously hot and humid weather, chilly nights, and aches and pains from walking for about a week, I can easily see that it was an absolutely amazing "ad-ven-tia!"

Well done, Colonel! Very well done, indeed, Sir!

Mohicanlanders, if you have not read the Journal... do it without delay. You won't be sorry.

I visited Kittaning several times, the last being three years ago to do research and visit my elderly Aunt as well. We visited Blanket Hill and talked about the rich history of Armstrong county. I'd love to be there for the reactment but God only knows what will be going on then. Life is so much fun with all those curves it just loves to send you isnt it?

Good morning, CC....did you just visit the Historical marker on 422 or were you able to get to the actual site, which is some distance away?

Cousin Seamus,
You know I'm game, I am working on putting my 2nd PA Private's Kit together and I will be ready to report for service when required. I sent Lane an e-mail several months back stating the same. This will be fun, I haven't 'humped a ruck' that distance in many years...

Seamus,

I only went to the marker but was able to see the top of the hill from a distance. It wasn't hard to picture what happened there. I'd love to make it back to Kittanning to see the anniversary reenactment.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I had alot of computor problems.
