Good Times, Good times not to be forgotten!!!
This is a very very late post; (always late here....) but I'll never forget Gretchen (a long ago poster) we were discussing what tale we would tell to those at work; whatever; where we were GOING for this time frame! OF all of the excuses (remember, this was a time when the internet was new to most of us, and young; my hubby was convinced I'd meet ax-murderers!)she came up with the best: Just tell them you're going to a Last of the Mohican Gathering, and they'll never believe you anyway....! What a time and then some we had!!!

who attended with a broken ankle and moon boot and wouldn't have missed it for the world...even navigating into that top bunk at the bunkhouse....but they did have washing machines!!!

Jo....at least it was ax-murderers for you....when I told a friend of mine that I was heading off to NC to meet a bunch of total strangers and would be sharing a cabin with three other women I hadn't met before, she was convinced it was a lesbian slave-trade organisation!! I just told her that a change is as good as a rest....

Oh I would have given almost anything to be at the first couple of gatherings....I missed out on Cameron's Cabin and all its...er...joys!

I must have missed this thread the first time around. That was a great gathering, wasn't it? Rich thought Carol was a hooker. I thought Rich was a short, fat, Italian guy. And, surprisingly enough, none of us were ax-murderers! What a blast!
Hi to all, old and new gatherers.

Carol a hooker??? She was just a determined gal....wish we were still in touch!
I know we (my sisters and I) pulled up in our car in front of the Chimney Rock Park where, Soldier No. 1 was stationed, in full costume; and tried to make him guess which of us was "Jo" as my sisters never posted; only I did. He failed miserably, but it may have been the heat; it was very hot! The Bunkhouse was a gem of Last of the Camphouses in a Bunkhouse! The top bunks were just a bit higher than my normal leg span could heft me up to; Carol: she had no trouble! Much more fit than I! OF course, DAR flung herself off of the top bunk in a fit of Alice sympathies, that caused a stir (although thankfully, she didn't hurt herself); then there was the FAN that MMMMMarcia had to have on all the time; the VCR player that Chris stayed up all night watching in the main room; (also the room that Mr. Schweig held court). Chris was so fit after her up all night marathon; she jumped up and still attended the entire days festivities; however, she paid her dues another Gathering with the what....peach brandy? Courtesy of Claibiar? WEll, memories, memories of great times. And that short fat Italian guy who also couldn't guess who was who when we arrived at the Pavillion the next morning...?? Not particularily fat but with boundless energy; (and no sense of direction or down time); Thanks to Rich, who hardly guessed who was who...we have all of these fond memories....Thank you for all of your hard work!
