The rest of the afternoon found ALL of us taking our turns at the targets. The expert instruction and ABOUNDING patience shown to us by Bob Penland was a treasured experience!
Cecelia looks like an old Pro...Hmmmmmmm, I wonder how many muskets have been fired in FLIP FLOPS!

Bob (red shirt) and Fitz (6 on shirt - for "6th" Gathering) inquire about Cecelia's straw hat. Said they've been looking for something to wear with their own HOT PINK shirt. SERIOUSLY...Many Thanks to Bob and Mac and the rest of the "French Broads" for allowing us to hang out on Sunday, and THANK YOU Fitz for helping to organize the afternoon. We had a SIMPLY MAH-VELOUS time!!

Thanks, GG, for the trip down memory lane with the UN-Gathering. It was truly one for the ages! Thanks to my roomies, you, Cecelia, and Christina. Thanks for your visit too, Steph. Thanks to all the French Broads for allowing us to become Hawkeye-ettes. And, thanks to Rich for spending time with us in a most calm and relaxed atmosphere. It was great!
Now...where's my quart of milk? |

Yes, there is ONE THING Gadget Girl didn't tell everybody about the UN-Gathering...we discovered that THEY MEASURE STUFF DIFFERENT in Hickory Nut Gorge! Their quarts of milk are smaller than everywhere else in the Southeast! Alabama, South Carolina, other parts of North Carolina...SMALLEST quarts we ever saw!!! The story behind this: on the way back from Asheville we stopped at a convenience store to get Cecelia a quart of milk. Theresa and I went up to the coolers and pulled out a plastic jug and proceeded to stand in the middle of the store going on and on about HOW SMALL these quarts were around there! We gasped over the fact that the jug of orange juice I'd bought was SO MUCH BIGGER! I even almost went up to the counter and wanted to know why they were trying to rip us off on a too-small quart of milk when we realize...WHAT WE THOUGHT OF AS QUARTS were actually half-gallons!!! We were comparing this poor innocent quart jug to the half-gallons we usually buy!!! So we bought our milk and scuttled out the door. The salesman was funny when we explained what we'd been agonizing over in the middle of the store..."Y'all went on about that a good while..."
Proof that you can ALWAYS learn something, even at an UN-Gathering... Christina

This is the first time that I have seen the posts about the Un-Gathering. Yes, when I get bored, I go looking around for different things, and I am glad that I got bored because the pictures and posts really unbored (I know this isn't a word) me. I just wish that I had been there. It looks like y'all had a great time. I am counting down the days!!!
