Someone has devised a plan for redrawing state lines so that the states are roughly equal in population, then giving each new state two Senators, so the Senate will be based on population like the House is. This would require a constitutional amendment, of course, and I'm not arguing for the adoption of this plan. What I find fascinating are the names given to the newly redrawn states, as shown on this map:

http://www.fakeisthenewreal.org/reform

Most of the names reflect geographical features, a few (e.g., Coronado, Lincoln) reflect history. Looks like I'd be in living in the great state of Susquehanna (with apologies to Billy Penn, I kinda like that idea). Mon Guide would reside in Northern New England, Rich in Great Smoky, GG in Pamlico. I think you're in Erie, WW, and you hail from Willamette. Where is everyone else? The one name I don't understand is Brownia. The only explanation I can think of is that it includes part of "bloody Kansas," where John Brown and fellow abolitionists fought against the expansion of slavery. Anyway, it's fun to look at these United States from a different perspective.

Hmmmm.... difficult to tell, but it looks like I would be in the lower portion of Susquehanna.

You are definitely right about hailing from Willamette, however. The name is taken from the Willamette Valley where I grew up. My birthplace, however, would still be Los Angeles. Nothing new there, except that it's not currently a state. Maybe it should be?

Yeah, WW.....its in a sad state!

in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting
'...holy sh*t ...what a ride!'

Yes, it sure is. And I am sure glad my folks moved us away from there when I was 7! I would never want to live there again.

Looks like we're in the great state of San Joaquin, or maybe Mojave (it's just too darned hard to tell from that goofy map). Ah well, in a few more years, we'll be living up in Olympia!

Yep...Tombigbee is where I'd be! It's a great river, but my little town's name has a nice ring to it, too...why not Sylacauga?
