Well, let's see ... I'm without coffee this morning, my head is pounding, and my mind is unable to focus ... Hey! Just like every other day! I'll take a stab at this anyway ...

Finally got to see the documentary, The Battle on Snowshoes this week. This encounter, taking place in March of 1758 in the North Country during the F&I War was the subject of Tim Cordell's historical fiction piece The Battle on Snowshoes. Filmed on "location" up in the Champlain Valley, it features the reenacting unit of Mike Fitzgerald, a 2001 Gathering participant who many of you have met. He's Robert Rogers ... and even has a speaking part! Plus, in the well-done 30 minute production, you'll see [or hear] other familiar names - web site contributors all:
So, it was all very familiar to watch. You'd probably enjoy it! Copies can be purchased at Mind Lab Films

On other fronts, our Ishi: A Real Life Last of the Mohicans has been, for the second time, selected for publication. This time, it appears in the November, 02 issue of Old California Gazette. [site in production - it may, or may not, be up at any given moment!] That page has proven immensely popular, ranking as one of our top visited pages day in & day out.

New on the Mohican Board:

Anonymous Posting ... What this does is to allow anyone to post, without registering, under an anonymous name [Lurking Huron]. It's purely experimental & can easily be disabled if it leads to troubles. For now, it's restricted to the The Last of the Mohicans forum only.

Topic Notelets ... You may or may not encounter these things while posting. Again, somewhat experimental. What they are are little notes [ala post-it notes] that you can leave as reminders to yourself or others, or for whatever else you might want them for. There are a variety of possible uses & configurable settings, but for now, I have them - in most forums, anyway - set for moderator use. This may change. Or, they may be totally useless here! In one or two forums - The New Deal is one - I set them up for all to use, so, if you think of a good use, hollar!

Web Links ... You can submit a site's URL - whether your own or just one of your favorite places - for inclusion on a Board Links page [see: Web Links link in the navigational menu - upper right!]

This is traditionally one of the slow times around here on the Board - though the site continues its boom! - with the Holidays and all, but we hope you'll share some moments with us through this period!

Gotta go ... my head really hurts!
