... the more they stay the same!

Cases in point:

This Web Site, On the Trail of the Last of the Mohicans, continues to flourish. I used to say we averaged 1200-1600 visitors per weekday. Add a hundred, or so, now. Surpassing 1700 unique visitors on any given day is not uncommon. On the weekends, the numbers do drop, as they have over the years, but still, add at least a hundred per day! Yesterday [Saturday is always the slowest day], we had about 1100 different folks pass through here - up from a usual Saturday of between 700-1000. Not too shabby for a 5 and a half year old web site that centers its theme on a movie that has been out for TEN YEARS come next month!

As has been the custom, this Board gets high ranks in the daily visitation scale, habitually being the most visited "page." Yet, despite that, only 71 people have posted here since the new Board's been up!!! That's typical. Over 120 have taken the time to stop & "sign-up," but the vast majority are "lurkers." This is as it always has been ...

Throughout the Site, the same pages come up as the leaders, day in/day out [the order might change a bit, and on occasion another page manages to slip in, but ...]:

  • The Eric Schweig Gallery
  • Any & all photo galleries
  • From the Ramparts
  • Ishi: A Real Life Last of the Mohicans
  • History Links

So, the surprising thing, to me, is here we have a Web Site that about 1700 people come to each & every day - most with a keen interest in LOTM, or some aspect of it - and yet a mere 25 folks have voted in the Poll sitting atop this Board. And that, too, is as it's always been ... Weird! ... book sales remain the same ...

Nothing changes!!! ... and that's good!

So, here we have the MacWilliam Clan back - that tickles me to no end - good to have you grace the premises! We'll look forward to the Tales - even without the blood 'n' guts!! Newcomers here should definitely check out the older Chronicles scattered about in the Old Board Archives ... I set a link to the beginning in the Bumppin' 'Round Bumppo's Forum.

Failure Department: I've tried & tried, but I just can't seem to get the posts specifically from the Gathering Forum to show up in the Gathering page!!! I hate to give up on that ... but, I did enable the most recent active topics from the Mohican Board, as a whole, to appear!!!! So, that's where we're at ... in several places throughout the web site, including the 2003 Great Mohican Gathering page, live links appear - generated by activity here - showing the topic names of the most recently posted to threads! Pretty neat ... and, I hope, will further connect the "site" to the "board." At any rate, use some thought when you name a topic! It appears elsewhere! OK, so it wasn't a total failure!

Not To Worry Department: The scrolling message up on top of this board [Ah-HA!!! Some of you don't even know that there is a scrolling message, do you?!? Switch to Internet Explorer!!!!!] will generally not be political ... it's just that September 11 has so permeated the consciousness of so many Americans ... this will truly be an emotional week.

Other News: Long-time board member [albeit a quiet one] & original Gatherer, Caitlin, along with her not-so-quiet husband, Jeff, are expecting their second child .... any day now!!!!! Wishing you both the best!

New on the Board: Hmmm ... nothing, I don't think ... I've been toying with that other board ... OH, the Photo Album works now ... AND, I got rid of that horrible lime-green box t

caitlin: Best wishes and hopes for mother and child when the day comes... which I assume isn't coming fast enough at this point! Oh! And not to forget the father... best wishes to him too.
