No big tales to tell, just some little snippets of info, prompted by happenings & correspondence this past week:

Copyright Infringement: This is an ongoing, and seemingly unresolvable, adventure. We most commonly encounter the abuse of the policy with Eric Schweig-related sites. All the material on this site is copyrighted. It is either original or used here by permission. Some of it, like the above photo, was paid for by ... us! Yes, we hired the photographer to shoot those pics ... Mohican Press paid for that! When someone takes material - whether photos, text, or anything else - from this site, without permission, they are infringing on the rights of the owners ... in most cases, us. Now, we've eased up on the law by freely allowing ALL personal use of the material, i.e. not-for-profit, just by asking. That's all it takes. Just like if you walked into our home & saw something you liked. You wouldn't just take, you'd ask, Can I get a copy? or Where'd you get that? Same principal. Only we've made it even easier. If it's for use on your home personal computer, a private little club, even bulletin board sharing ... we could care less. We understand. It's OK. In most every other instance, through the years, all it takes to use material is to ask & maybe give proper credit. We almost always say, Sure, go ahead! Yet, despite our very liberal policy, it gets violated, repeatedly. We just very recently pleasantly resolved the problem with an ES site ... it's really easy: OK for private & non-profit use. Simply ask & tell folks where they came from if it's highly public or for profit. Hey, it's not just us, we had to do the same thing when we use other's material. Common courtesy, is all it is. 2003 Gathering News: Updated! 2003 Great Mohican Gathering Sounds like a couple of days are coming together very nicely! What a treat this one's gonna be! Remember: things are very tentative right now & subject to change. It's early! VOTE! ... in our Polls. It really helps to point my mind in the "right" direction! [Though right now, in the latest one, it's a wash ... votes are very evenly distributed!] VOLUNTEER! We need help!

raffle overseer/planner
program guide crew
on-site clean-up help [this is a biggie if Saturday goes as currently planned]

These are big & important chores ... think carefully before taking one on. If the worst happens, we'll do the PG, and we'll make a phone call to the Geneva, book the place & do it as we did last year, but ...

Archives: Did the first Archive of this new board, just to test it out. Only did "Thought For The Day" - anything older than 30 days - On the main board page [accessible, by the way, from anywhere by simply clicking on the "All Forums" link or the Mohican Board banner], you'll see the Archive icon to the far right of the forum [if logged on]. That's where you'll find them.

Working On: A feature that will allow peeks at the top 3, or 5, or whatever, posts about the Gatherings to appear on the Gathering Pages. The Gatherings have their roots here, always have. It's only fitting to keep the two connected! It's half solved. Will have it running as soon as my brain kicks in ... over 50, don't forget!
