New With The Mohican Board: Some new features, you may or may not find useful ... but, they're here anyway!
- MSN Messenger added - if that's your instant message service, you can now add your addy to your profile for others to access
- Avatar Legend - Again, in your profile, it'll be a lot easier to select an avatar, if you so choose. Click on "avatar legend" and you'll be able to view the darn things in groups, rather than one at a time! [those not already claimed!] Remember, by no means are you limited to that selection. ANY .jpg or .gif will do - preferably a square, 64x64 pixels or larger [to prevent distortion]
- Sticky Topics - this mostly concerns moderators, but everyone will see the red - currently [will probably change that] - arrow indicating a topic is "stuck" to the top of that particular forum's list of topics. Keeps stuff of importance in plain view.
- Re-organized the forums into more specific categories
Regarding the last item above: Snitz Forums is soon coming out with a new version. This here is version 3.3.05. The new one is 3.4 - doesn't sound like much of a leap, but they've really changed things around on it - it's much more like a whole new version 4. Anyway, my thinking is this: I've modified the code so much, that upgrading will cause the Board to lose much of the stuff I've added. I will have to re-implement all the add-ons & modifications as they are re-released for the new version. Likely, that'll take a bit of time. At the same time, the poor "Against All Odds" board has about withered & died. It used to be it's own separate board with its own audience ... and people actually posted! Not so anymore ... I'm not sure if it's the Mohicans thing scaring them off, or they think they're in the wrong place, or what, but it's plain to see that no one from a different audience is posting there. So, what I'm going to do is go back to maintaining two distinct boards. Once version 3.4 in released, I will create a new Against All Odds Message Board with that & leave this one alone. Once I'm able to modify the new version to my liking, I'll then convert this one to take advantage of the new software's enhancements. Hopefully, that will allow for a virtually seemless transition.
POSTING HINT: Particulary useful in longer threads, where you might find yourself replying to a message somewhere in the middle, is the "Reply with Quote" link, as opposed to simply "Reply to Topic." Click the icon in the post that you are directly replying to. That will add the text to your post in quote form. Then you can edit out those portions you wish to. It helps to keep things in focus!
2003 Gathering: The polls will close late tonight, and then there'll be some deciding to do. Some very basic stuff is up at the 2003 Gathering Page, but that is subject to much change, and, of course, addition. Many of the poll results are fairly clear cut, but many offer no apparent consenus ... like should the base be in Asheville or Chimney Rock? and should the Gathering be 4 or 5 days?
