Once again, I apologize to all of you for inadvertently getting you involved with this latest setback in young Sophia's life. A couple of you mentioned, privately, that it probably was no accident, but the hand of God. Perhaps. I kind of likened it to a Freudian-slip type of thing. Who knows.
So, she had pneumonia, went to the emergency room at approximately 10PM last Monday night, was admitted somewhere around 5 in the morning. Snappy hospital. She spent a mostly good week receiving various treatments. Lainey & I split duty sitting with her; I took the day shift, she the night. It was a fast week! And, as usual, Sophia made many a friend charming the hospital staff!
Just got off the phone, and she had a good night, so I am expecting the doctor to discharge her this morning. Looks good.
Many of you asked questions about Sophia that I had no time to answer. I would suggest you read The Sophia Story and most questions will be answered.
Thank you so very much for your support through this!!
Needless to say, the website was not touched this past week - barely had time to check in at all. That is not good, 'cause there's so much to do with the Gathering sign-ups just around the corner; the Author's Expanded Edition in desperate need of work [only 5 copies of the original left!! ]; etc., etc. - but ...
And, then there's this thing called Christmas!!! Egad! Yes, I am feeling overwhelmed.
Anyway, gotta go ... just wanted to fill you all in!!

Made it home yesterday after all - discharged right around 5PM. Remember lollipop therapy last winter? Now it's the Sock Strategy. The hold up up with her discharge was that the monitor she was hooked up to [measuring oxygen levels & heart rate] kept going off the past couple of days. The beeping was driving me to the point of wanting to take the darn contraption & toss it out the window. Finally, a nurse suggested we place a sock over her foot to better hold the sensor in place. Result=discharge. Go figure. Whatever works! |

Rich --glad to hear things are looking up and that your little angel has come through this latest experience...and I love the "low tech" SOCK solution! As usual my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Hang in there! And don't WORRY about the Web site or the holidays. Focus on the little one and keeping yourself going... Peace and blessings, Christina |

Glad to hear that it was a 'simple' solution. Leave it to a nurse to figure out the best possible way (I should know, I'm married to one).

"Nurses are the true hero's of the hospital (2 sisters and mom nurses)"
AMEN to that. I have a daughter who has had many surgeries and the nurses were so wonderful! Plus, it was a nurse, not my doctor who helped me the most while giving birth. |
