So ... what's a-happenin'? Anything? [I'm likely to get a complex around here; and I'm only half kidding!]
Well, I spent yesterday in a bit of a MOD [modification] fest. Oh, before I tell you about that, updates on two things I mentioned in the past two weeks:
- The server side spam filter is still not installed on our server. Should be soon. Again, if you E-mail me anything of import, and I don't respond in a timely fashion, please use the PM system on this board, or try again. Perhaps, the software got overly hungry!
- My new software with which I plan to lay out the new version of my LOTM locations guide book was shipped - FINALLY! - on the 19th. So, I expect to be pre-occupied with that very shortly. Happily, though!! New Guide Book
OK, MOD-fest:
New on the Board: Here you go:
- For increased ease in locating newer posts [for those of you not in love with Active Topics], posts made yesterday & today now say just that: YESTERDAY and TODAY!
- New "Contact the Sachem" java script on the registration & FAQs pages.
- As I utilized in the very last topic at the bottom of this post, a link up method to specific posts in a thread. Look for this icon in replies:
- When an image is auto-resized to prevent expanding the page view, it now says, "Click to enlarge" when you hover your mouse over the re-sized pic.
- A few things are added that are of concern to me only for maintenance & the like.
- User Groups: A very neat & handy way to divide members into private [or not] "work groups." Very many possible uses, but I foresee mostly utilizing it here for Gathering planning. Any suggested uses, let me know. At the moment, only moderators & those planning this Gathering can even see its existence, so don't go crazy looking for it!!!
- Added a new forum way down below for discussion of British Colonialism ...
- Late version Opera & Netscape users ought to have better functionality of the text formatting tools in your posts.
I think that is it.
Mini-LOTM Photo Gallery: Courtesy of Jan - of the wardrobe department - who stumbled across us a week, or so, ago!
She says: I stitched mostly colonial stuff .... the guys that Hawkeye helped escape from the Fort, I did most of theirs. That was my first project .... then switched to become a Cutter Assistant and 'flat-tacker' for the Alice & Cora's outfits. Meaning, I assisted with cutting the garments, and then flat-tacked the linings/backings to the exterior fabrics. Still have my scraps!!! Afterwards, I made a number of floral-print Indian women's blouses. Later, Richard (last name??? Wardrobe Supervisor .... my memory ....) bought them to use on a couple of Native American/TBN films that he keyed. I was rarely ever on set, as we were so busy stitching in town; plus, after Jim Acheson resigned, and Elsa Zamperilli came in to take his place, those of us who worked under Jim were allowed to finish up the last of Jim's projects, and then were wrapped out the week before Elsa got there. So I didn't see much of the action on set at all. Never laid my eyes on the Fort.
Might this be the striped skirt that works in the infirmary?
Did you ever get to the big warehouse off Eagle Street in Asheville .... which was rented as Wardrobe headquarters ???? It was 3 stories high, with the Native American garments and acrutements being done on the first 2 levels, and Colonial on the 3rd level. The photo is the Colonial 'team'. We started out there in March.

I would like to say a "Thank-you" to Jan, for the photos. Because I am a seamstress, and one who has lately become quite interested in 18th century clothing, this is something I would have been very interested in doing. Even though you were not on the set, I imagine you enjoyed being involved. Question: Did Madeline and Jodhi ever come to the warehouse for fittings, and were you personally involved with that?
Oh... and was that DDL's stunt-double in the photo?

I actually read that list of search queries that brings folks to the website! Eric Hurley should be flattered that he is being searched! Some of those others...there's definitely more than 6 degrees of separation there......"rescuers or epistemological or fortress or insuperable or barbituates"? I can see why a search engine would lead to Mohicanland on that one!!
I also get a kick out of the statistics that are displayed on the site! The current Mohicanland page was raised in 0.57 s! I can't find the stat that says I post 0.01 messages per day, though! But any time you doubt your work here, Rich, just remember that 194 of 294 members made 10155 posts in 30 forums, and that there are currently 1022 topics, and the active user record is 48, set on April 16, 2003 at 12:24:35 PM. Your work here is important and meaningful! Statistics don't lie! |

Well, I was one of the two who in a hissy-fit said adios, however, after some thinking, I know I just don't want to do that. This is still a special place, and I would like to remain a part of it.
Thanks Rich, for all |

That's the spirit, Ilse!
I noticed something else tonight.
When I opened up the board, there was my face--well, my alter-ego's face staring at me at the top of the page.
A bit unnerving. |
