Hopefully, a brief one.
Mentioned before, but our bread & butter - our guide booklet - is just about gone. The other stuff we try to sell just doesn't seem to carry much of the load. It is sink or swim time. So, I have to devote all my time & energy [web site time & energy, that is!] on getting a print-on-demand version [black & white ] ready before we run out of the original. The new version will include the original work, plus ... the "plus" part I'm not sure of yet ... and have full color covers. Some added software I need ought to be here by the end of the week, so there probably won't be much in the way of updates & additions, at least until after Thanksgiving weekend. I'll be kind of scarce here, as well, I expect. Gotta get this done! Hopefully, it'll all come together more quickly than I anticipate!
So, moderators, keep on moderating; Gathering planners, keep on gathering plans. I be needin' youse!
Pretty much a wash this weekend, so far. Nothing new to report & every change I attempted on the board ended in dismal failure. My mind ain't right. Two fellas worked their last day Friday - one my bestest Postal buddy, the other pretty darn close. We shared many, many a laugh together ... some of the "make-you-cry" variety ... and it hit me harder than I expected, and I expected it to hit me hard! Drat! Will take some serious adjusting & some time for this melancholia to dissipate.
Anyway, I'll be around, just not as much, beginning next weekend & continuing, I'd imagine, for 3 weeks, or so. If I can manage it, I'll get an update or two up, but the other project must take priority ...
That's all, for now ... hope your cup of coffee was a small one!
Keep on keepin' on! OH! And make a Chingachgook pledge!

Morning,Rich.
Do whatever is necessary...we'll be here guarding the fort. I forget from time to time how busy you are and don't express my gratitude to you enough for creating this place that I dearly love and enjoy. Don't tire yourself too much and let me (us) know if there's anything beyond the call of duty we should know about or do. |

Gee, I'm sorry Rich. I guess I picked a bad time to get you started in a debate of a beloved hero and subject or yours! I'll understand if we allow that thread to go into hibernation until you can return to it, given this other important, and necessary, project you have to spend your time on. Have at it Lad! Good wishes and success in your project! |

Good luck on your project, and if you get a wee bit 'bogged down' remember that nothing helps clear the mind like a pint of porter beer.

Thanks, guys & gals ... and Sgt., my fridge is stocked ... Buds, though!!
More than likely, my time here won't be curtailed too much, I always think I'll be scarce when stuff's a-happenin', but I always seem to find time ... I've got some time off Thanksgiving week, plus there's another holiday coming up, so it should be OK. GOTTA get this done, though, so updated material on the web site might be delayed.
One thing I plan to add to the original On the Trail of the Last of the Mohicans, besides material from the Companion Guide, will be a much longer list of thanks! Since the book first came out, in 1997 - actually, most was written by '94 - a lot has occurred - much more than I ever imagined could - so there are many more I need to thank. For keeping the dream alive, the Mohican Board cast will be listed. Couldn't have gone on this long without ya!
Bill, I wasn't through with my "defense" of my non-hero, Custer, yet, but feel free to post your rebuttal anytime. I'll get to it. I love to talk about this more than anything! For those of you who have no idea what we are talking about, see this thread, waaaay down at the bottom of the board: Responsibility at Little Bighorn. Anybody's two-cents worth are welcomed!
So anyway, SOMETIME in the not too distant future:
- Conclusion of Tattoo Tantalizers, by Rick Martinko
- Reworking of the Eyes of Soldier #1, by Curtis Gaston [including cool video!]
- Updates from Lake George & Fort William Henry, by Tim Cordell
- 7-Month Gathering Update, by me & you
- New edition of the guide-book to the sites, by me!
That ought to keep me busy!! |
