Good morning, folks ...
I'm going to be brief this time because most of what I had to say I said in my earlier post, Gathering VI Budget Plan & Enticements! Just let me add to that here that if what's holding you back is timidity, fear that you just can't do it, or something along those lines - relax! Every one of us who has attended has experienced thoughts & fears like that. You can do it! Just look through the images of the Gatherers in the Gathering Section of this web site. ALL those people lived to tell their tales, and many came back again, and again ... It's always great to see all the old friends at each Gathering, but it is equally important to "import" some new faces for "fresh blood." Don't worry; Be happy!
The only other thing is that we have completed the conversion to the new MS-SQL database pretty much without a hitch. One glitch was brought to our attention [Jump To Last Post in multiple page threads didn't work correctly] and that is now fixed. I ran a test registration, that worked, and I see now we have a bonafide new member, so that - often a trouble point in incorrect conversions - has passed the test.
What's this all mean? Not much, initially. But, down the road it gives this forum the ability to survive & expand to as big as it needs to get. The old Access database was designed, as users of Microsoft Office know, for desktops ... not for multiple computers all over the Internet. Still, it does function well in that capacity, but as the database grows, it will lose vitality & slow down to a crawl. Long term performance was the issue here & I decided to go with it now.
Good to see a new installment of the Mac Williams' Chronicles at long last and equally refreshing to see Huggy's creative work in The Meaning of Life phorum ! Thanks guys ... Now, if only we can get CT & Lainey to come to terms ...

Looks like I spoke too soon in this post [see this week's Update], but I'm here to say that after battling all day, I think I've beaten the darn thing. Will have to wait till the smoke clears before I am certain, and depending on that, and the opinion of our web host, I can't rule out a "do over"!
At any rate, I've taken care of business at this end of the Board ... The other, down near the bottom, seems on the verge of apocalypse! 
Hey, Adele! Or someone! Another "chicken crossing the road" type thing might be in order! |
