In the "tradition" of Eric Schweig & Wes Studi - and even-numbered Gatherings - the 2004 Gathering [the 6th] will have its special Guest! As you more than likely already know - - Russell Means, and his wife, Pearl, will be in attendance at our next bonanza. They will be arriving on June 24, 2004, the day of our Cherokee Adventure, be present for both the Dupont Forest and Movie Theater [where, at the theater, Russell will draw the winning raffle ticket] and The Mohican Games. They will depart Mohicanland the day after the Gathering ends on Sunday, June 27. And, in the same "tradition," we need to find a way to raise the cash - as quickly as possible - to get them here & get them bunked up. They have requested a room at The Geneva. Their mode of transportation of choice would be Amtrak, though they are willing to fly. To these ends, a Coins For Chingachgook page has been set up detailing the raffle & payment options. As the donations have already begun trickling in, it is obvious the page is being visited. Thank you! We must act quickly so that all the necessary arrangements can be made as early as possible. Also, special thanks to our good friend Ros for helping to get this together!!
As always, all up-to-date Gathering info can be found on the 2004 Great Mohican Gathering page!
As I mentioned last time. Maurice Roeves will be in the area toward the end of this month and has asked me to show him & his bride around to some of the film sites. Oh, alright ... twist my arm! I might try a little enticing, as well. Maurice is of the mind where he might just pop-in on a whim ... at the Gathering, I mean!
On the Board: In an attempt at making setting your birthdate a bit less complicated - after all, Chris can only smash so many computers! - some changes have been made in the datepicker gizmo. See if it helps next time you edit your profile. Other small changes made, as well ... things you probably won't notice, like fixes in the AOL Messenger thing, etc.
On the Site: The long hiatus is over! It wasn't easy, but A Courier Revived has hit the stands. Problems with field reporters, printing press, and the measly 24-hour day slowed it down, but we hope you enjoy it!! I think that no one was spared!
E-mail Of the Week: None! As often is the case, all was the nondescript kind ... "Great site!" ... "Can I use a photo?" ... that sort of thing. Sorry!
OH! Ariel's Auction is back in business for the next Gathering, too - with Proprietress Jayne, and a handful of helpers, back at the helm!
Till next time, Happy Trails!

Regarding:
quote: MILITIA BLOTTER
Mister Scott Yangeese was arrested early Sunday morning & charged with indecent behavior.
While it is gratifying that the Mohicanland militia found me a significant enough threat to make this perilous journey, I do have to point out that they have no legal authority whatsoever in the Charter Colony of Connecticut.
quote: Apparently ratted out by Doctor Mary who finds such behavior "intolerable, abhorrent, & too competitive for my own little schemes," ...
I think that gets to the heart of it. Nonetheless, I do thank Doc for posting bond.
As far as settling out of court, well, yes ... I am open to suggestion.

Ahhhhhhhh.....*sighs*....I knew something was missing in my life, and now I know what.
And now that I am to date with all the Mohicanland current 'affairs'...I may just have to dust off the nekkid (but tasteful) statues in the House of Hoo-Haa. Lady Ann...take note!

I think the rebels have ratified the very broad ICC (Inter-Colonial-Court) & now hold jurisdiction. You can run but you can't hide ... technically.

A word of caution ... Doc Mary will take you from the frying pan into the fire with suggestive suggestions. Are you monied? |

Well, I've been rummaging about in these chests. I know I put the deed somewhere ...
I bought the land from a cousin, Robert Noble. Distant cousin. More on the Loomis side of the family actually.
Now you may have heard some rumors about those land riots, but don't let it worry you.
Of course things did get a bit hot for a couple of years, especially when Noble incarcerated Sheriff Yates. And Governors Clinton and Shirley got involved, and even Phips, not to mention that annoying Yorker Lt. Governor De Lancey. And you know how things get when the bigwigs come into it.
But everything quieted down once those French devils descended on us. After all, we're all loyal subjects of the crown.
I'm sure there won't be any problem claiming the land once hostilities cease.
If I can just remember where ... |
