Whew!
What a time! I loved it, folks. For the first time, since the First Gathering, I have no doubt that I want to do another, meaning that a Sixth [and Final!] Mohican Gathering is in the cards. Volunteers have already lined up & ideas are coming in. You've been warned! Start planning!
I know I had promised a full recap by the weekend ... I'm working on it! I'm working on it! Much of it is up, including lots of photos, but I haven't yet gotten to Day 4. Plus, there's some editing that needs to be done on the other pages, but, there is some stuff up now. Follow the caravan flags through our Great Advent'cha!
2002 Great Mohican Gathering Recap! Enjoy!
Thank you everyone for an absolutely fantastic time! I won't go into it here, since I've pretty much espoused upon it in the Gathering Pages.
Good use of the Poll Add-On, Theresa ... it's there, like the Events Calendar, for all of you to utilize. Go for it. It all adds up to make the Board a more fun, and more informative, place ... and that's what the Board is supposed to be all about ... fun & information. Back in the Eric Schweig days, it got a bit too serious around here, and we never really snapped out of it. Our bad!
Two great things have happened around here over the course of the past month and a half ... one was moving our site to a new server. That opened the door, to us, to the world of ASP and enabled a much-needed invigorating face lift to be applied to the Mohican Board. The other was the Gathering ... a fresh breeze has blown through Mohicanland.
Soon, we can turn our sights towards some new material on the web site!
A word about the "Bumpin' 'Round Bumppos" forum ... it's empty, and it very well may remain so. That's ok. I look at it like leaving the lights on ...

WOOOHOOO, Rich! Thanks for sharing all the Mohicaness of the Gathering 2002. It was truly an "adventcha". We are still talking about it here in Alabama. As soon as I get all my photos developed, I'll send you copies....there's one especially that needs to be shared of you all geared up for the Nolichucky. Thanks for all your efforts. Looking forward to 2003. As things begin to take shape for that one, please let us know what we can do to help out.
As you mentioned, there are those who were not there, for whatever reason, that were truly missed. I pray that they find their way back to us next year. And, as for all the newbies....well, what can I say. They were wonderful and I'm looking forward to seeing them again, as well.
Thanks again!

Dang, Rich! It was only the first day and I look like I'am half dead! I guess those IPA's got a way of gaining on you. Next year I am gonna get a LOT more rest before the Gathering!
Well, that better. On day three I look alive. Guess Friday off helped! I sure missed the Nolichuchy trip, though. Maybe, next year? Rich?

Maybe, Fitz! ... Generally, I like to poll the "masses" to some degree, and see what's on their collective minds before setting the itinerary!
One thing that's already fairly cemented is an expanded competitions event ... possibly with a cook-out/pot luck or some other food-fest, maybe even music ... not sure yet, but a lot of ideas have been floated ...
From the gun club, I thought I'd share:
quote: As a member of the French Broad Muzzleloaders I would like to tell you how much we enjoyed having you with us for a day.I had a lot of fun and I know everyone else did too. I certainly hope we can do it again next year. I would like to offer my services to you if you would like to do a short seminar on Longrifles, the history , how to load and use etc. I have a fair collection of rifles that I could bring for folks to check out. Remember our matches are the second Saturday of the month with this next weekend being a three day affair. Hope you can attend. Thank you for letting myself and my wife attend the theatre showing in Hendersonville. Had a great time. Thanks again.

Well, how nice of Darrell to send this. I know that was a highlight to Claude's Gathering. The offer extended to tell us the history and the "ins and outs" of shooting would be a lot of fun and should be quite interesting as well. And a cook-out/potluck sounds like fun, too. I now that you've expressed our gratitude to them. They were so nice and very helpful to one who hadn't a clue what he/she was doing.
