: "I" don't miss the line "Got nothing better to do on the lake
: today"... because I thought it was too jovial to say while they
: are fleeing for their lives. And the other line "Serious disagreement"...
: I always thought it sounded a bit too modern, it goes more with today's
: movies. Kind of like Arnold's S. "I'll be back" signature lines.
I agree with you, Donna. I was going to hold off commenting until after I'd seen the DVD and assimilated it a bit, but as long as you brought this up ...
Though I KNOW this is not the popular opinion, I've, and Elaine has agreed, always felt that those lines were too 90ish, or Clint Eastwood like, or something out of place. Then, I saw the 1936 version of LOTM, and there are lines identical, or very near so, to those. So, maybe they're too 30ish ... I don't know. I feel I can live without them IF the trade-off is worth it ...
Clannad's another story ... I wonder if maybe there was a legal problem?
I think the sound is a fixable thing, and it should be better than the original, as should the picture.
The things I'm hearing that ARE in there sound good, if not outstanding. Though I wish for all ES & Jodhi May fans that there was some more development of their relationship, I can't say I'm disappointed about no "love" scene. I've always thought it would be a bit out-of-place in that situation and in that place.
I'm guessing I'll probably enjoy it for what it is ... wish it was a bit more, but, hey, Michael's the Mann!
I was wondering about the hat & megaphone. You mean the bus is still there???? And what about the mentioned "pauses," or whatever ... Are they noticeable? Distracting? Any new music?
