I enjoyed all the great answers to the "why DDL" query, SO.....here's another one:(the muggy weather in PA today, must have me testy or maybe I've just grown to trust all you Mohican followers:o)
The first movie of DDL's I saw was "My Left Foot"(was impressed with his acting abilities; Next was "Name of the Father"(a gripping cinema); I enjoyed both but didn't have a strong reaction to either. Then, LOTM appeared and my reaction was "I WANT THAT!!"(hahaha).
My point is, the romantic tale, fantastic music, and great make-up, I believe could have caused almost any actor(with a certain quality of acting ability, of course) to rise to the stature of "super hunk."
He rose to the occasion without any doubt; however, upon watching "age of Innocence" for the first time within a month of LOTM, my reaction was "that can't be the same man!" I know -- it's called "acting" but to my mind Michael Mann had more than a little to do with it.....your excellent & interesting opinions are welcome:o) ann
