Scott & Crowe Eyeing Stowe's Unbound Captive Friday, April 11, 2003 12:06 CDT
According to Variety, director Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe are eyeing Unbound Captive, a period Western which Madeleine Stowe wrote under the name O.C. Humphrey.
The film is about a mother who engages a tracker to help find her kids after Indians kidnapped them.
Complicating things is the fact Stowe wrote the lead for herself and most top helmers like to make the casting decisions.
No more than what you've reported here, Rich. I read something about it a few days ago. I've tried to locate her book but had no luck at Barnes and Noble nor Books a Million. Will keep on the hunt, though.
An English-Australian-American western. That sounds interesting.
Crowe and Sir Ridley were to have been shooting Tripoli by now, another American story. It's obviously been put off 'til next year (assuming it's still in the works).
Shooting a movie in the Moroccan desert in the summer would be just too brutal.
Which means we won't see it 'til 2005, or perhaps late 2004 if they really push it.
