WOO-HOO! Daniel Day-Lewis has been awarded the 2003 BAFTA award for Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role!  I've now lost count of the number of awards he's won so far for his role as "Bill the Butcher" but prior to this one, I believe the count was around a dozen! And still to come are the SAG awards and of course, the Oscars!
Congratulations, Daniel! It's nice to see you getting the recognition that you so richly deserve!

Add one more to that list folks! He just won the SAG.  He was very gracious in his acceptance speech...a most genuine man. Now let's hope an Oscar will be added to his long list of achievements for his Bill the Butcher in GONY. |

Add my hopes that DD-L wins the Oscar for GONY! Even my friend who only originally went to the movie to keep me company was blown away by his Bill the Butcher. Karen

I have to admit, I haven't seen any of the other films that had nominations for an Oscar in this year's Academy Awards, but ...
Is it really even possible that someone out-performed Daniel Day-Lewis???

"Out-performed?" No. That is simply not possible. I have read many theories on this upset for Best Actor and one recurring theory has to do with the subject matter of the movies, as opposed to who actually turned in the better performance. Whatever the reasons behind Brophy's win, those reasons most certainly did not include a performance superior to Daniel's. He is truly the most gifted and brilliant actor around, IMHO! |
