So this month we're seeing the blockbuster film, Titanic coming to theaters in 3D, and Titanic was a big hit with everyone just like Last Of The Mohicans was, so how about having Last Of The Mohicans come out in 3D! It would be GREAT, and I know everyone would see it, and love it. So maybe us fans should write to someone to make this happen?

I'm a bit of a cinephile, but the 3D craze doesn't excite me. I find it distracting and unrealistic. The advances of the technology are impressive, and no doubt, fun to experience. But it's a gimmick that doesn't fulfill it's promise of being more immersive. It segregates the images on screen, and creates an artificial and exaggerated visual. I think that's probably fine for something like Avatar, but not for something like LOTM, in my opinion. Fortunately, I'll always have the option of a standard presentation. Not meaning to cast your opinion aside here, But i do think the format is a disservice to the source material.
If I had my druthers, they'd film all movies in stereoscopic IMAX. To me, that's much more immersive. But that's just me.
I'd be curious if itd be financially viable to do it. Post conversion 3D is hit or miss in terms of quality, and I'd hate to see them take the cheap route. Not sure they could sell enough DVDs to do it, and/or a theatrical re-release. |
