Val Kilmer, appreciated by many here for his portrayal of Doc Holliday in "Tombstone," is considering whether to seek the Democratic nomination for governor of New Mexico in 2010. Here's one of many articles I've seen recently on this subject:

At least he's actually lived in the state for years, so this isn't a case of a celebrity looking for the most opportune place to run. But it does seem to be the case that people with a degree of name recognition always seem unwilling to start somewhere closer to the bottom of the political ladder and work their way up. (Is this sounding at all familiar, New Yorkers?) And what kind of word is "contributive," anyway?

I don't know. I've always like Val Kilmer and respected him as an actor-I don't know if this will cut it! I'd hate for him to go the way of Jessie Ventura and Arnold!

It would be great if he emulated another actor who started as California's Governor and then went on to even greater accomplishments...Ronald Reagan. |

You know, for all the classic and vintage movies I watch I have yet to see any with Ronald Reagan. Any suggestions for movies he was in that are you guy's favorites?
Interesting fact: My high school graduation ceremony was the same day as his funeral. Our class colors were black and silver and our flower was the lily-quite fitting for the day wasn't it?-even if we didn't plan it that way!

Let's face it, ol' Ronnie wasn't much of an actor; come to think of it, neither was Ahhnuld.
I can just see Val's campaign poster now: a pic of him above the phrase "Ahm yore huckleberry!" |

I just read that Val's made his decision: he's not running. That might be best. And he's put his ranch in NM up for sale. Moving on to the next phase of his life, maybe. |
