Please don't lynch me, it's not my opinion! I recently read an internet review of the sountrack which stated that it was overated and not great, that Trevor Jones' contribution was largely forgettable and that the Clanad song had no place musically or dramatically in the film. The reviewer redeemed himself somewhat by saying that the opening theme was among one of the best of the 90's, but the rest made me laugh.:) By the way, I might have gotten Trevor Jones confused with Edelman- I always get those two mixed up!

I have really gone of critics, instead of giving insightful opinions they just slate things they dont understand. LOTM has to have one of the greatest soundtracks ever made for a film!
I understand about the Clannad song, I guess it is slightly out of place but it is a beautiful song which goes with an important part of the story - Hawkeye desperately trying to find Cora. Surely not every piece of music should have be dramatic to the story?!?! |

The first time I saw LOTM, the Clanad song suprised me because all of a sudden there was this voice coming out of nowhere. Upon subequent viewings, I think it fits perfectly both musically and dramtically. It really conveyed a sadness that Hawkeye had lost Cora and his determination to find her. I especially love the bit after the singer sings "no matter where you go my heart is with you/in a place with no frontier" there's this flood of music as we see a slow motion of the trio running up the cliff with fierce determinatino on their faces. It's one of the moments I anticipate seeing the most.
As for the rest of the LOTM soundtrack, can anyone think of a soundtrack BETTER than LOTM. I've heard Braveheart praised a lot. I've seen part of the movie, and the music hasn't grabbed me the way LOTM did right from the start. |

I remember the first time I saw LOTM, theatrical release 1992, and this particular segment (Clannad) showed me the devotion a father and brother had for a white son/brother, especially Chingachgook. I remember thinking "here's this old warrior running uphill with all that he has in order that his son(s) rescue those whom they love". And as far as the entire soundtrack goes, I can think of none other that is better.

| I first watched this movie, and the "no matter where you go" song came on, and one of my friends (who I was watching with) stood up, and went over to her CD rack, and just kept repeating 'gotta find it gotta find it'...leaving me and my other friend puzzled...then she broke off into laughter after finding that CD with that song, and has been obsessed with it ever since *cough* *cough* Ithi *cough* *cough* :-P |

| I have to admit, I am guilty of just bringing up the opening part of this website, and, whenever I feel down, just listening to the music over and over again, I dont know why, its calming, especially when you have a four-page report to write! Thumbs-up from me! and a friend of mine has the "no matter where you go" song on one of her cd's, so we listen to that a lot too. |

| vix, you've been scarred evr since you read the amber spyglass...i dont see how the LOTM soundtrack, or even me humming it, could scare you. i, on the other hand, will never be rid of the sound of vix trying to hum the "burning" and "kiss" music. |

rofl....yea, i do the best burning duncan imitations.... freaks my friends out.... oh! im also really good at the "duncan falls down" imitation. has anyone ever noticed that part where theyre camped on a hill, the hurons are approaching, and all of the sudden we see duncan running, rifle in hand, and then i think chingachgook tripped him and <thud>, he falls down? that is just sooooo funny...i cant watch that without replaying it at least thrice.  |

| the sad part about that part is that you dont hear a thud. So you dont know weather he fell down, or if he just turned a sharp corner so it looks like he fell down...any one seen that? And Ithi, you cant do a Duncan falls down impression without actually falling down... |

hehe...maybe chingachgook had the hots for cora or alice...ya never know...and the clannad music is excellent-not just "i will find you" but their entire aman and banba cds too. excellent celtic based music. |

| I listen to the music over and over. I never get bored with it. It seems like certain parts almost put me in a trance. It is very calming and soothig, but mostly it is simply beautiful music. I keep trying to find more of the same type. I have bought several soundtracks by Trevor Jones and one by Randy Eidleman (sorry if that is spelled wrong) looking for the same feeling and majestic sound in perhaps a different melody, but I've been disappointed. None are quite what I'm looking for. But I'll probably keep looking. |

I'm the same way Linda. I actually WORE out the cassette tape I had. When it warbled, it was time for the CD. LOL Now I've got both LOTM cds and at least one of them goes with me whenever I travel. I don't think there is a soundtrack I have that I've played as much. Like Ithi said, if you like Celtic themes, check out Clannad's "Banba" cd, it has "I Will Find You" on it.

how can that reviewer say that the Clanad song had no place in LOTM? he's obviously one of those people who thinks that words with lyrics in them have no place in films like last of the mohicans, only in ones that take place in the present, which is stupid. personally i think the music was part of what made the movie so memorable

Daire,
I do have the Banba CD and I too have worn out a tape of the soundtrack, but I just keep making more from the CD. I don't have a CD player in my car so the tape travels with me. I do like most of the Clannad music I've heard. You should listen to their "Themes" CD with themes from other movies and TV shows. It is beautiful too and also has "I Will Find You" on it. It is amazing to me that almost as much as I enjoy listening to the music I like to talk and read about it as well. Nice to find people who seem to share that interest. My family thinks I'm over the edge on this. Linda G |

 Over the edge?? Never! LOL I have a bunch of Celtic cds, including bagpipe ones (THAT gets the eyes rolling, LOL!), but I haven't checked out their Themes cd yet. I have a bunch of 5.99 coupons for BMG music I can use when I have more money, will pick it up eventually. If you like Clannad, you could check out Runrig, they have a ton of songs in Gaelic and English, very soothing. Even if I don't understand them without looking at the translations. lol
