I am pretty sure that most of us have seen the previews for the animated movie 'Spirit' but I never knew that there would be a connection to LOTM ( not bad, Rich, eh?)!!! The voice of the warrior belongs to no one other than Daniel Studi, son of our Magua, Wes Studi. I'll try and find the link for a pic. I must say that he certainly resembles his father.
BTW has anyone seen this movie? My 11 year old son wnats to see it..

Hope it works...

Being a lover of horses from way way back, I went to see "Spirit" the first day it was released (taking along my 11 year old horse-loving niece with me for cover!). It is a WONDERFUL movie...the best animated feature since The Lion King. I laughed, I cried (sobbed actually, much to the amusement and annoyance of my niece) and I was overjoyed to see a happy ending for Spirit and his herd. I will definitely see it again. Daniel Studi, Matt Damon and the other actors who do the voice-overs do excellent work and the animation is superb. Go see it...with or without a child (although it is best seen with one...borrowed if necessary!). But bring that box of Kleenex.

Thank you so much for sharing your sentiments regarding the movie! Now I will have to see it for sure!

I completely forgot that Matt Damon ( I really like him..sigh)is part of the movie as well. For which part is he lending his voice for?

Matt Damon is the "voice" of Spirit. The film is unusual in that the animals do not "talk" onscreen ala Lion King or Bambi. The intent and emotions of the animal are conveyed via body language...the voice you hear from time to time is for expositional purposes...Spirit "recalling" things that happened to him. Only humans talk onscreen.

It has its humorous moments, but this film is, for the most part, quite serious and dramatic. It is probably too intense for very young children (at least two toddlers were carried crying out of the theater at the showing I attended), but anyone over the age of 6 should love it. As I said before, particularly for we elderly female horse-lovers, it is a real tear jerker...not as much as when Dumbo's mother rocks him to sleep while cradling him on her trunk, mind you, but almost as bad.

P.S. Don't tell the Doc or TGAT Lainey about my tendency to tears during sentimental animal movies...showing weakness to those two is like exposing an open wound to a pack of tiger sharks!

Did you say tear jerker ??? Oh, oh... I guess I 'd better take a box of Kleenex with me then..yep, I am suffering from the same problem as you do..I never forget how I bawled when I saw the funeral procession in the movie IMITATION OF LIFE with Lana Turner.Sniff...sob..
Your secret is safe with me..BTW my son will be fine. He is 11 and just looks at me funny when I get emotional..

P.S.: Of course I am sure though that my pal Ilse will have fun with my weakness for Mr. Damon.
