Psychics....baloney. I don't believe in all that stuff. Still some folks are taken in by their scams and throw their hard-earned money their way.

I'm surprised, then, Irish, that you are such a Harry Potter fan.

Harry Potter is pure fiction about witches and wizards not about "psychics". What on earth surprises you winglo?.

In my mind all of that paranormal stuff falls in the same category. . .witches, wizards, psychics, fortune tellers, etc. I see, however, that you don't agree. It wasn't meant to be a comment about your choices. I was actually hoping you would enlighten me as to how it is different.

Psychics are real people who say they can get in touch with the dead and take money from other people who wish to "contact" their loved ones who have died and get some kind of "comfort". I personally do not believe in psychics. Everyone can make up their own mind, that is their choice.

As for the HP movies, well they are just plain and simple fun. If they were saying that witches and wizards really existed then that would be another matter. It is pure fiction and good fiction at that. Of course in real life there are folks who claim to be witches and vampires but I just put them in the same "category" as the kooks who claim to be psychics.

So, do I understand that you're o.k. with stories, etc. that everyone knows are just stories, but when people try to pass off paranormal stuff as real then you are not much of a believer. I agree completely! I am just personally not much of a fan of fiction about stuff that I don't like in real life. But, luckily, we're all different.

Hmm i believe real Psychics never ask for money and they have no control over the powers they have...so the Psychics you are talking about Irish, I don't believe in either, those people need a good smack for taking in people who have just lost someone close to them.

I know a few people that claim to be Psychic and they never ask for money or any other gift for using their ability.

Thanks Kirachi and Blackfoot. I appreciate it. Usually don't mention this to people as the response you get really is a bit rough. And it makes people stare at you and stay away like you're some kind of .

Don't worry, Irish. I don't charge people $$$$ and I don't agree with those who do. That issue reall ticks me off. If they do have an ability it's there for a reason, not to make $$$$. It's there so they can help others.

And I don't claim to be psychic, just some woman told me I was. I don't try to develope it either. I tried that once and had a bad siezure, so no thanks.

But I do get things from dead people and I can verify that.

When my cousin passed I told my Aunt something I saw. It was identical to the thing my cousin had told her days before.

Then a friend of mine in NJ who's a widow. One night while I studied I got this thing, like telepathic communication, and I started jotting it down. I called her immediatly (it was about 10pm) and she pulled her two sons in the room with her and put me on speaker (Yes, she was testing me). Anyway, I told them things that had been done at school, things that were said in an argument earlier that day (and no I hadn't talked to her at all), and then told her something very specific and she became silent. It was verbatum what her husband had told her before he passed and way before I knew her.

Her oldest son doesn't think I'm "baloney" anymore and her youngest was upset that his cover got blown. Everything I told them was true.

And then there's another cousin of mine. He and his family stayed with us last year for a short time. "Spook" (as I like to call him) started pulling pranks on his wife. He only did this because he thought it was fun scaring her. I did too, only cause I really didn't like her! She's an ingrate and is sophmoric. When they moved out she was sooo happy, "So keep you're damn spook here!"

It was hysterical when she called me in tears asking why he followed her to her new home.

Since then my cousin and his wife divorced and last I talked to her Spook was still hanging out just to bug her. Mu-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Go Spook! She asked me how to get rid of him and I answered, "I dunno." Although I do. Spooks having a good time why mess it up?

Won't go into any of the really creepy stuff. This is just some of the weird and funny. Yes, sometimes they are funny.

Since we're talking about psychic things. . .

My dad had a great aunt, I think it was, who was born with a caul. In backwoods southern lore at least, people born with a caul are marked with some sort of sixth sense. Supposedly she could just tell when people were on their way to her house. She lived way out in the country with no phone and didn't read enough to get letters, so couldn't have received word when people were coming. But somehow she knew down to the approximate time when people would arrive at her house. There are stories of her sitting on her front porch and suddenly going inside to set the table. When asked why, she would say something like, "The so-and-so's will be here in about twenty minutes." And, inevitably, they would be.

Now, I don't know how much of that is true and how much is good ol' southern embellishment (which many members of my family are definitely prone to!), but if it is true, it's unexplainable at best and eerie at least.

BTW how funny is this, I didn't even see you're post about psychics and money, Kirachi. Just saw Irish's and posted right away. Then I looked at some of the other posts to see we believe the same thing about real psychics.

I don't even like the term psychic cause I don't think that's exactly what it is.

And I'm not trying to make a believer out of you, Irish. Just know that I would not go telling tales to comfort people. Sometimes someone will ask me, "What about my friend, is she in trouble?" or "Is he dying?"

Shoot! I don't know! I'm not God! And it's not something I can tap into, it's something that comes when it comes and I just merely pass it along.

It is neat though.

Yes luckily we all are and it takes all kinds to make a world.

I just don't believe in psychics, any psychics, whether they take money or not and all the top names like John Edwards have made money from their "psychic powers".

Just my beliefs Light so hope you take no offense. Tell you what though, maybe if you channel your "psychic powers" and tell me something about my past that you could not possibly know, then who knows maybe you could "convert" me I doubt it though

A question for you ghostbusters. Can you see the image in a photo taken with a digital camera? Or does if have to be taken with film? I have been through all my pics from Joumonville's Glenn and found nothing. If haints are anywhere they ought to be there. Of course all the pics are digital, so maybe that matters. But I did use my highest resolution!

It shouldn't matter whether you use digital or film, if you capture something in the photo it should still show up. I know my husband and I watch "Ghost Hunters" on SciFi every Wednesday night and they use digital cameras all the time to catch activity and it shows up, that is when they catch something good! (Good show by the way, worth takin' a gander at.)

There are so many phony psychics (Sylvia Browne) that if somebody actually does have some sort of psychic power, many people won't believe them. I like to keep an open mind about all things. I don't know any psychics and I sure wouldn't pay anyone any money to tell me things that I already know about myself, but that doesn't mean that I don't think that there are people out there with some sort of psychic power.

Light, I enjoyed reading your post. Kind of gave me goosebumps though.

As for watching fantasy programs about witches and such, well, I always loved watching Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie. Do I believe in witches and genies??? Nope, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying a show about them. I guess that my mind isn't as open as what I thought or else I would believe in them too.

Oh well, we are all different and have different views on subjects. It would be very boring if we all agreed with each other.

Love,
Kay

Okay, I'll start things out, I guess. My husband and I went to a costume party this weekend and decided to take our little boy with. So here is a pic of myself and my little man, Daniel. I was a bar maid and he was a goat. I would post a pic of my husband too but he didn't want his mug up.

Blackie,
What a lovely pic of yourself!!! Your little Daniel is a darling!!! I love seeing the little ones get all dressed up. Thanks for posting the pics!!!

Kay

I didn't know if an ectoplasm would show up on a chip encoded in 1's and 0's, or if it had to have an actual film with a negative and positive image. Maybe they have gone digital like everybody else. Or maybe it's something to do with the lens. Just don't know. I guess I could drag out my old Leica next time I am at Joumonville's Glenn. Well, actually it's not a real Leica, just an FED copy of a Leica, but it has a great 135mm lens, and I doubt the ectoplasm could tell the difference. Can you still buy film?

No offense taken, Irish. None in the least. Like I said before though I can't "channel psychic powers", as #1 it's something that comes when it comes and #2 I don't call them psychic and they're most certainly not "powers". I'm not super-woman for crying out loud. They're abilities. Like a talent. Like how some people can pick up foreign languages like it's nothing while other can't make heads or tails out of one conjugation. How others have an inate sense of direction in the business/technical industries and have brought about all these wonderful high power technical products we couldn't imagine our lives without. Although, just because it's there doesn't justify charging people $$$ for it. That's just wrong.
Anyway, you get my point.

Seeing that we're friends and keep in touch frequently if I ever have a dream about you I will be sure to let you know.

I have dreamed of things in the past that pointed to changes that were coming for people I knew. One was of a promotion for my brother, he laughed at me and said, "Yeah...right!" One month later he got a promotion to the position I saw in my dream. He was beside himself.

And another dream I had about a person I worked for. I dreamed that she and her hubby were expecting and that she wanted to keep it secret because she had miscarried so many time before. When she heard it she was floored. She and her husband had been trying for years to have a baby but always lost the pregnancies. She had just got word the day before that they were expecting, and she had talked with her hubby about keeping it quite until they knew for sure that it would last. Then I told her that the odd detail in my dream. That she was having twins. It was odd cause she was in her 40's, super tall and like a size 1? Maybe? The lady was sooooo skinny and petite. Well, she LOL at the thought and said, "Oh sure!" That pregnacy held and she later got to hold twin boys. That one really weirded me out!!!!!

I've kept in touch with them and they're doing good. But nothing else ever came into my dreams for them again.

So yeah, I've seen things coming for people but not by choice. If I happen to see anything for you, Irish I will let you know. But like the rest of me, it comes when it comes and not a minute sooner. I can want to know so badly but then it will never happen. It's always showing up unexpected and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Seamus has a great tale to tell, of something he experienced at a place called Warrior Run in central PA. Wonder if we could entice him into giving us a short version of it?

Seamus, are ye there, Sir? Would you care to make the effort to tell your tale?
