I've rented the expanded version of Dances with Wolves and all I have to say is WOW!! So much new footage in this movie and that's not even counting the extras which I haven't gotten to yet. Why couldn't Michael Mann give us something like this?

I can only hope that maybe down the line....like other posters have said....he will "see the light" and throw us that bone we all are salivating for.

Yes susank I have seen the movie with all the extra bits and much better. Still, I doubt Mann will do the same for us. He has not done it so far so does not seem very likely. We can always live in hope I suppose.

What would be great is to get some type of petition going and mail it to him. Maybe if enough people chanted for it he'd get the idea and voila! Our extended version of LOTM.

That is an excellent rework on "Dances With Wolves" ... lots of good stuff in there!

I have been meaning to purchase this, and just haven't. Thanks for the reminder! Think I'll do that today.

I agree Light, it's really not hard to see how other great films like DWW has been helped by having an extended version out.

I say we all go to his house and camp outside with big boards saying "Hey you! re-do it!!" or some such lol maybe something a little better than that but you get the idea

On the main page, you can only see part of the title of this topic: "Michael Mann may want to take a lesson from Kevin..."

I had to take a peek just to make sure the missing name wasn't "Federline." Which made me laugh, just thinking about it!

OTOH, the Director's Version of Tombstone was very disappointing. He added approx. 3 deleted scenes to the DVD (which should have stayed deleted)--it's understandable why they were deleted. "Be carefule what you wish for; you just might get it!"

I think I may actually buy it too. I finished it today and really enjoyed it a lot.

I think my favorite added scene was when Stands With Fist learns her husband has died. Very powerful. I also liked the explaination about the soliders leaving the fort. I don't know why they didn't leave that in because it explained so much. On the other hand, maybe they wanted it to be as much of a mystery to John Dunbar as it was to us.

And the last added scene that I really liked was after the buffalo had been skinned and the Indians go off and then you see the wagon with the skins in it. That was a good one.

And how cute is Smiles a Lot! I'm glad his part was expanded too.

Funny, how he seems to have "cleaned up his act" since leaving Britney. I think she was the one dragging him down. Whilst married, she "behaved" and did not go out partying at all hours "pantyless" but when they broke up she really started with her "wild ways". Kevin was good for her, not bad and I hate the bad reputation he got. Now thankfully, the kids are with him, the more "stable" parent. She really needs to get her "head" sorted out and cut out all the nonsense.

Sorry this did get off track. From one Kevin to another.

That's okay Irish. It happens to all of us!

Just imagine how much more the romance would be appreciated by the fans if MM actually let us see something between Alice and Uncas.

I'd be first in line. But then again, like Obi said...getting what you ask for may ruin it. How many times have this happened with other movies?

Well, ruined or not, as long as I have the original VHS release I'm good!

Light, I think that half the reason people (well women) can't stop talking about Uncas and Alice is because the romance is "unknown." If we knew as much about them as we did about Hawkeye and Cora there wouldn't be any mystery to use the imagination on. So, I don't know if more would actually be better.

Kirachi just wondering what other movies you have seen Eric in. Personally I love him in Big Eden as Pike Dexter and loved his "Buffalo Hump" in Dead Man's Walk. Seen any of those. He was very like himself in "Skins" I thought.

Hmm stuff with Eric I've seen. Dead Man's Walk, Follow The River, Tom & Huck, The Missing, The Scarlet Letter & Squanto

I really want to get my hands on Big Eden & Skins but both are a little hard to find here. I keep meaning to get them from eBay
