According to Farmer's Almanac we're really in for it in the tri-state. We're suppose to have bad snow falls Jan and Feb, more ice in the latter part of the 1st month and into the mid of the second month.

Then March is suppose to be a doosey with severe weather and even an anticipated snowfall as late as April. (Old Man Winter's last punch)

Then we're in for another drought next summer. <<States in a monotone, "The anticipation is overwhelming."

And you're grandma is right, Blackfoot. The more nuts on the ground the worse the winter will be. That's something my grandpa (whose 1/2 blackfoot taught me). It's always held true.

I live in my own little world - but that's okay, they know me here!

It was 90 degrees here yesterday & supposed to reach 87 today -- oh well, we don't have to start up the furnace for the winter just yet.

Nice and sunny here in Wisconsin but only 41 degrees. Still can't complain as we have had higher than normal temps lately.

Cold, windy, cloudy, and RAINY in KY. We needed the rain so badly for so long! Unfortunately we didn't need it all at once and now we have some localized flooding but no one's complaining! We're just so happy to see it that I don't think flooding is a bother to us!

And finally the other trees are beginning to turn! YAY!
It now feels and smells like fall!

This topic has stirred me to return to this Board for a bit....

October is my absolute favorite time of the year and I am happy when I can get out into it. Unfortunately, this year has been a tough one and I don't have the freedom to roam as I have before, but that will soon be back....I hope.....been having some health issues which have clobbered me pretty hard.....but I am now gaining a foothold on them and am going to be OK.

Anyway,enough of that.

Last Sunday, the 21st, Goodwife Nancy, my daughter, her two munchkins and I went on our Annual Leaf Ride, since the weather was glorious and I felt in my old bones that the peak was here in NC PA and to dawdle was to miss it. So off we went after church and did about 3-4 hrs of checking it out. It was a short ride, as we usually do a lot longer tour, but the 2 year-old was getting owly! After lunch at the Turkey Ranch restaurant in Northrn Lycoming County, a place which draws from all over and gets crowded even though it is HUGE.....it actually is a "destination" for travellers (fabulous meals !!!), we headed home, completeing about a 100 mile circle and the day was complete.

Good decision to go last Sunday...rains and winds have pretty much ended the spectacular show of God's artistry.

Here is a short album of some of what we saw...

Seamus! I nearly fell out of my chair and spilled my coffee! It is so good to see you back here, my friend! I hope this is a sign of more good things to come.

The photos are beautiful! It makes me want to get out with my camera this weekend and go for a drive here in New York Colony. If the weather is conducive, I just may do that.

Hi WW! Sorry to shock you so badly! I was right in my guess that that was the weekend to go.....the rain we have badly needed and some wind have begun to wreak havoc on our beauty here, so you may have similar 'luck' in NY Colony!
I, too, hope better things are coming.....my strength should be returning in a week or so and my Master Plan is to start back to the fitness center to help it....nearly 30 lbs of my carcass has been depleted, and I am weak beyond belief, as you well know from seeing me at Ligonier and Heritage Days, and I need to tone up and get the legs back. I also plan to keep the weight loss and eat a tad more smartly, something I have learned to do(!), but strength and tone are very important....been too much just sitting around, resting, and getting by this bump in the trail.

Mo Guide, it was the BEST day I have had in ages....in fact, any day these days is a good one! I am more than ready to get at it.......Thanks! Now, if my Doc will allow me to drive myself.......I can really get back to 'normal'!

Good to see you knocking about there, Seamus!

PA is SO beautiful in the fall. Have been up at least close to that way the last couple of falls and really missed it this year. WE are still pretty green around here. Green and BROWN that is.

Greetings, Seamus!

I am humbled indeed that my little topic helped bring about your return to the Board - you have been sorely missed by all!

And the pictures you posted are simply gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

I certainly hope that your health continues to improve & that your strength returns two-fold! In the meantime...what does the Doc have to say about meeting some of your old friends in the tavern for a pint? If he has objections, I suppose we could always consult with Doc Mary about concocting a special brew of some sort for you...

Welcome back, Seamus! I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope that your health improves as well! Just take it one day at a time!

I just got back from Bloomington, IN and we just caught the changing of the leaves right before we left. I really miss this time of year there.
Now, back to AZ to endure some record breaking temps! Too much fun!

Good to see you here again, Seamus! Sounds like a fine time was had by all (except maybe Peyton), and the photos are lovely. We'll have to seek out the Turkey Ranch restaurant someday, as it sure sounds like Dave's kind of place. As for your continuing recovery, how does it look for deer season? Here's hoping another four weeks does the trick.

Fall colors - not far from here is a group of VERY large trees that are the "last to peak". Most everything is "past peak" now, but not these characters. Every year it's the same, - they look great as usual, but all are located in a large graveyard. Mmmmm, - kinda makes you wonder.
