I've found that I have many many DVD and VHS tapes but if there is a movie coming on that I have, I'll sit up and watch it. Sometimes it's the only good thing on...

250 channels and still crap to watch.....

I do the same thing. In fact I have a Tivo'd copy of it too, that I could watch any time. But, I still tuned in last night. . .because it was on.

Yes, but if it's on TV I have more of an excuse to watch it as in "Oh look Hunny it's on TV, we have to watch cause I'm 10 mins in" while as if I get the DVD out my other half says:
"Oh no, not that movie again"

I tivo'd it cause I don't have this version on VHS. Only the directors cut DVD which is different.

I also watch it whenever it's on...glad to know that I'm not the only one!

I just find that, with movies I own on DVD or VHS, I never tend to watch them when they are on tv, as I can watch whenever I want. I like to see something else that I do not "own" on the telly. Just me.

I'll watch it just to see it again! Weather it's DVD or VHS or TV. Doesn't matter. I just love to enjoy the entire movie!

Yes, I noticed that, too. I sat there thinking, "How can the casual watcher possibly know what is going on?" The subtitles finally came on for a few lines very near the end of that scene. Outrageous!

That's just plain stupid to leave out the sub-titles. Must think we all speak the "lingo".

I think the subtitles are so low on the screen in the movie that they don't show up when it is shown on tv. They get cut off, just like the peripheral parts of the picture. We only see the "center" of the screen when it is formatted for tv. I doubt if they leave it off deliberately.

It's funny, I thought the same thing. My husband and I watched a few bits and pieces of it the other night and when the movie got to that part, we were wondering why they only put a few subtitles at the bottom and not all. Weird!

I was playing around with the subtitles and noticed that the movie can be changed to French! Not that's great! Montcalm acutally speaks to Magua in French. And to the Abenakis. And Hawkeye speaks French to Cora, and vice versa. Now that is really neat! Give it a try.

But at the end of the scence the subtitles begin to appear, so they do fit the screen, but are left out and then suddenly appear. its jsut crappy editing and its horrible to watch on regular tv. although i tivod it to fast forward the commericials

Well, Fitz and I didn't have any problems understanding the french translation.
C'est vraix, Fitz, c'est non?

I think MM approach to this was to make you feel what Cora and Alice were feeling (What the???!!!) Although neither one looked too interested in trying to unriddle the conversation. Guess they thought Cpn. Crunch would be able to translate for them.
