I think mine was when I took my son to see The Simpson Movie. Wow, that's really sad...There are so many great movies out now that I want to see. Anyone want to come to Maryland and join me??

| Well, my husband and I were able to get a babysitter last weekend and we went to see Harry Potter. Excellent movie! The movie before this we watched in the theater: Pirates of the Caribbean 2. (That was before I had my baby) Needless to say, with little ones it's hard to sneak out and see a movie. |

The last movie that I saw in a theater was "Live Free or Die Hard."
My sister, Karen, loves action movies and it was her time to choose, so that is what we saw and it was pretty good. The next time that we go, it is my other sister's pick and she loves sci/fi. Not my thing, but then again she groans when I get to pick a romance film.

MG, I think you need to get out more! Just go by yourself, if need be. I do it about once or twice per year, and I enjoy going out to see a good movie on the big screen. The problem for me is in finding good ones that I want to spend $8. on!
The most recent one I saw was not too long ago -- "Becoming Jane." It's a story, somewhat based on fact, about Jane Austen. Anne Hathaway did an OK job as Jane and I did enjoy the movie.
Actually, I do want to go see "310 To Yuma" if I can find the time before it leaves the theaters. |

| I don't care for movies all that much. Documentaries are far more interesting, - although I certainly wouldn't go the a theater to see one. |

I took my kids to see "Pirates 3" ... before that ... Well, let's see ... "World Trade Center" & "The New World" ... I did see "The Alamo", "Troy", and "The Passion" in the theaters ... probably a couple more. Before those, it might go back to "Coal Miner's Daughter"!!!  Not counting LOTM at the Gatherings, of course.
MG - I'm with WW - get out and watch one - a good one - now and then. Remarkable difference on the big screen. Oh yeah, I saw "Gangs of New York", too. |

| Last one I saw at the "cinema" was 3:10 to Yuma. I actually go by myself about twice a quarter because my wife's and my tastes in flicks aren't particularly the same. |

Just like me and my "other half". Only movies he likes to watch are war ones or action ones with stuff being blown up all the time. I can take only so much of those. Don't go by myself though, that would be strange to me. Always took the kids to the Harry Potters but this past time the teenagers went with friends so I just took my youngest son. Hubby had to watch our little girl or he would have come to. She is definitely not ready for the movies yet at least not HP. |

Hmmm . . . I think you and I see about the same number of movies a year, WW. Last one I saw was Harry Potter, and before that was Pirates 3 and (I think) Amazing Grace.
I wanted to see Becoming Jane but didn't know if it would be worth $8 to see on the big screen. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan and was afraid that the movie would turn out to be a trite pastiche of her novels. Plus, Anne hathaway kind of annoys me. So best to wait for Netflix on that one, I guess!
I'd like to see 3:10 to Yuma too, but (strangely enough) I can't convince my husband to go see it with me. Granted, he's not as "interested"  in Russell Crowe and Christian Bale as I am, but I can't believe he doesn't want to see a western. What says "guy flick" more than a western? Ah well...  |

| "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" on Sunday evening. Before that, "Michael Clayton" on Friday evening. I love seeing movies in theaters, and have seen 12 so far this year. I agree with everyone who recommended going alone if necessary -- much better than 1) sitting there next to a spouse who's miserable, or else 2) resenting your spouse for "denying you" the chance to see a movie you really wanted to see because he/she wouldn't accompany you. |

As most of you already know, I am an avid fan of Daniel Day-Lewis; so for me, Gangs of New York was a "must see" when it came out in theaters! Even managed to convince my hubby to come along! We were both very surprised that Daniel did not win an Oscar for his portrayal of Bill the Butcher but of course, good ol' Harvey Weinstein had a lot to do with that... 
Since then, the only other movie we've seen on the big screen was Open Range - a great western movie thanks to the performances of Kevin Costner & Robert Duvall!
Daniel's latest movie There Will Be Blood is scheduled to be released sometime near the end of this year, so of course I will be first in line at the theater for that one!!!

Oh wow I haven't been to the cinema in ages!
The last film i saw was "The Curse Of The Golden Flower"
I think that was late last year or early this year.
It's so expensive to go to the cinema these days i tend to only go if I know i'm going to love it and it's higher than a 15 rating here in England so I don't get kids screaming down my ears lol

I just saw 3:10 to Yuma and I liked it a lot. What's funny is that my hubby liked it more than I did, even though I had to drag him to the theater.
I really want to see Elizabeth because I LOVE Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush. And Clive Owen, but for a totally different reason. |

| I thought it was definitely not as good as the original "Elizabeth," which had a terrific sense of suspense as Elizabeth takes and tries to hold the throne (even though the viewer knows, of course, how the story comes out). The suspense was considerably aided by the presence of the very charismatic Daniel Craig as the priest sent by Rome to murder Elizabeth. In addition, Geoffrey Rush had a lot of screen time as the wily, witty, utterly ruthless Sir Francis Walsingham, and Elizabeth's doomed romance with Leicester (Joseph Fiennes) added suspense of a different kind. Can you tell that I REALLY liked the original?! The sequel should have had equally good story lines given the plotting of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the coming of the Spanish Armada, but for some reason it just didn't work for me -- too hurried, maybe, since the movie is only two hours long. (And the Mary, Queen of Scots angle was much better done in the Helen-Mirren-as-Elizabeth production that was on HBO not too long ago.) In addition, Walsingham has much less, and less enjoyable, screen time, and I thought the whole production was kind of over the top (way too many overhead camera angles!). That said, Cate Blanchett is great as always, Clive Owen makes a fine (make that VERY fine) Sir Walter Raleigh, and Elizabeth's fabulous wigs and costumes are great fun to see. I should add that my husband really enjoyed the movie, so what do I know? |

Over the last 4 - 5 years, I have only gone to the theater to watch movies starring Daniel Day-Lewis!!! 
Most recently, I saw "Nine" (starring DD-L, Sophia Loren, Dame Judy Dench, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Sarah Ferguson). Prior to that, "There Will Be Blood" & prior to that, "Gangs of New York." |
