Not being able to navigate the French language web site, I have a question. Does this dramatic and horrific drawing come from a book, or is it an isolated image?

Looks like an unfortunate blonde loses her scalp beneath the Eiffel Tower. (Probably a female Uncas fan caught her making a play for his attention, and took revenge.)

My guess would be that it comes from a book. The website says the artist is an illustrator of "romans noirs," which I'm guessing are thrillers---and very dark ones, too, judging by the pictures!

I looked at the rest of Claeys' site, but couldn't find the pic you posted in any of his galleries. Which one is it in? Then maybe I could help more. . . .

Oh, and I like your explanation about the subject of the pic. Look out, Light, you might be next!

****

Since I typed the above, I came across a book online called Le Chasseur de Scalps (The Scalphunter) by Julien Sauvage. It's listed as a crime novel published in 1975 and, conveniently, shares the same title as Claeys' drawing. Claeys' website says he got his start around 1970, so my best guess is that the pic was done for Sauvage's book, but that's the best I can do!

Those hands ... that must be Light of the Moon wielding that straight razor! So that's where she's been hiding! Yup, DW hit it right on the head (no pun intended).

Thank You to Red Fraggle, Obediah, Kaylynn44, caitlin, and Irishgirl for your comments!

From the information that Red Fraggle found, I think that I could locate the book (Le Chasseur de Scalps by Julien Sauvage) that it comes from.

I am thinking that the photo comes from a photoblog associated with the http://www.orange.fr/ site Orange appears to be a French site analogous to Yahoo or Google. The main Jean-Claude Caeys site http://www.jean-claude-claeys.com/ appears to be completely separate.

Obtaining the book could be a bit of a challenge on this side of the pond. I see it listed on French sites Priceminister
http://www.priceminister.com/navigation/se/category/sa/kw/chasseurs+scalps book detail http://www.priceminister.com/offer/buy/3458095/Julien-Sauvage-Le-Condottiere-Et-Le-Chasseur-De-Scalps-1191-Livre.html and Abebooks http://www.abebooks.fr/search/sortby/3/kn/Scalps

Cool picture DW. Thanks for sharing. I like gruesome stuff.

When I was younger, stuff like that didn't bother me too much, but 24 years ago when I got pregnant with my son, I started having nightmares and I just couldn't watch a horror movie or look at anything gruesome. In fact, the last horror movie that I saw was "The Shining" and it is probably tame compared to today's standards.
DW, I hope that you find your book.

Love,
Kay

Don't mean to get off subject, Dark woods, didn't you just have a birthday? I seen you had one at the beginning of the month. Happy Belated Birthday! Hope it was a great one!

Thank you blackfootblood! I had a great birthday on August 9, even though I was traveling for work-related training.

I read a cute snippet with Michelle Pfeiffer who said in her new movie, Stardust, she wore mechanical breasts on her that would go up and down.

Well, I have always wanted to use this smilie, and here is my chance. This is one strange topic.

Kay, I am definitely with you on this one. I found that drawing quite disturbing.
