I just saw that the author Sterling E. Lanier passed away on June 28, at age 79. He was one of the absolute best scifi/fantasy authors I have ever read. My personal favorites (I'm not alone here) were the 2 "Heiro" books, Heiro's Journey (1974) & The Unforsaken Heiro (1983). Sadly, for many readers, he never wrote the 3rd volume of this trilogy (due to his wife's illness), leaving us all to wonder...
