Magua, no question. As Fitzhugh Williams posted elsewhere, "No Magua, no movie."

No shocker who I voted for but I do believe Magua really made the movie so he should have gotten an award as well. Why can't we vote for two people.

Magua - best actor. But, can't we vote for supporting actors/actresses? Otherwise, where do we put the people who did an excellent job in the movie but only had about 6 lines, if you know what I mean?

Wes Studi, as Magua.

He won a Special Oscar, you know, for his role!

I had to vote for Wes too. I can't think of any other actor that would have been as convincing as Wes was as Magua. He definitely deserved an award!!!

And I and others here were there to witness it. Great moment and he was most appreciative...a lot of fun, too.

MAGUA!

Or rather, Wes Studi. Every time I watch the movie I'm amazed all over again at what a great job he does with the character. I like to imagine him as Magua when I read Cooper's LOTM too.

...but you didn't vote for Wes Studi, now did you? Seriously, why would you think that Eric Schwieg would be deserving of an award? And yes this may sound confrontational, but I don't mean it to be.

IMHO Obi, all the main actors in this movie "deserve" an award. They were all brilliant. I could not imagine anyone else as Uncas or Chingachkook or Hawkeye. Cora and Alice were played to perfection by Jodie and Madeline. Magua "stood" out as the "bad guy" and was the perfect choice for the part but had different actors portrayed the other characters, then this movie, despite Wes's brilliant performance, may not have been the bit "hit" it was.

We could always give Uncas an award for being the "cutest" Indian in the movie..ha
