I don't know how the weather is east of the PRK, but here in the Central Valley of California, the temperature yesterday was 101 and today it cooled off to 97! Man o man, this is just way too early for this nonsense!

Rub it in, Obi!
Come to the east coast and then you can complain!
80 something one day, 52 the next, 76 the day after that, and 48 with wind and rain following that one. Then 87 decides to come back 'round.

April's been absolutely great, upper 30's at night, low 50's to low 60's during the day, and plenty of rain. If ya' can't have winter, - then this is just fine.

Guess you're right MG.
It seems we people do complain about the weather too much.
Wish for summer in winter.
Wish for spring in summer.
Most usually like the fall, except for the cloudy days.
Almost everyone wants spring to last all year so long as it stays in the 70-80's with fair winds and lots of sun.

We should be more content that things are as they are. If they weren't who knows what the earth would be like.
Even if it was how people wanted it everyday, I'm sure they'd complain about the sun or the pollen or something.

The weather here in New York Colony has been quite pleasant. Low 40s at night, and high 50s to low 60s during the day. No humidity. If it would only stay this way through the summer......

Well, here in Arizona, the temps have been fantastic but alas are now up in the upper 90's. We're sure to hit the triple digits soon.... sigh.

Oh, don't I wish for it!
Here in KY it's been in the upper 80's with humidity and LOTS of rain!
However, the sun is out today and we've got blue skies! And the city where I live is on top of a hill by the Ohio River so we've always got a nice breeze. Can't complain too much.[<:)]

Same here Rich, but it should be in the 70's on Saturday. WOO-H00!!! I will enjoy it while I can because after that it is back to the 80's. I need to live somewhere that the high is 75 and the low is 60. Who needs seasons anyway? Just kidding, I do actually like the different seasons, but you just can't convince me of that when I am freezing or when it is sweltering HOT!!!

Love,
Kay

Well, the weekend promises to be absolutely perfect! This is one of two times each year when I, and a number of my fellow event-planning committee members, hold our collective breath.

This weekend the Chemung Valley Living History group I belong to in New York is presenting its Ben Newton Memorial Civil War Event at Newtown Battlefield State Park.

Yes, yours truly will don a very large hooped skirt and assume the appearance of a ship under full sail, all the time wishing I were back in the 18th century.

Well, it can be quite windy up on top of that hill, however....

Unlike ladies in the 18th century, ladies of the 19th century wore undergarments. Underdrawers (not bloomers!)and a modesty under-petticoat were ample protection from prying eyes should a lady's hooped skirt be caught by a wayward gust of wind.

Sorry to deflate your hopes, MG!

Yes, I believe it is to be in the upper 30s or lower 40s tonight. I will be sleeping under many wool blankets in a rustic, unheated cabin. Ah!!!! Love that wool!

Beautiful weather here in Wisconsin for the past week. Temps in the upper 60's and even into low 70's on occasion. I love it and can't complain one bit as it is just perfect. Looks good for the next week or so too. Even a nice breeze which helps. Perfect weather indeed.

Well here in Michigan it has been rocky.

We got a few days that just about hit 90 (one of them did) and so everyone drags out the shorts and tanktops and such and hides the winter stuff, then we hit 20 and see snow flakes. Then it comes back to 60 and we all get spring stuff around and we hit back at 30. Then we had a white easter (not white Christmas). Then we get warm and then right back to the 30's. The weather just doesn't like how small my dresser is.

Oh and flu, and sinus's, and allergies are hitting a rather large high. I have been sick for over a week from the stupid weather.

There are easier things in life then trying to find a good guy..... Nailing jelly to a tree for example.

Well, we had absolutely picture-perfect weather for our event! Nighttime temps were in the low 40s and upper 30s. A nice campfire, 4 wool blankets, good ways to keep warm. Daytime temps were in the mid to high 60s, which is really perfect when one is wearing wool re-enacting clothing. The sun shone brightly (yours truly got a bit pink!)

Very nice looking area & event indeed. I see in '06 there were quite a few "visitors", probably some future recruits among them I'll bet. ... Any nasty Frenchmen or wayward gusts ofwind? ;)

Well, quite thankfully, there were no nasty Frenchmen present at this battle. There were, however, a few gusts of wind on Saturday evening. I didn't have any trouble with my hoops, but a small modern tent/canopy that wasn't staked down really went flying. Literally.

One of the best things we do at that event, in my opinion, is our Friday Education Day. We had about 850 school kids there this year. They visited various "stations" to learn different things about that period of our history. Invariably, we manage to pique the interest of several little boys who decide that activity just looks like a whole lot of fun! Hopefully, they will carry that interest until they are old enough to participate.
