I'm not sure how many of you may have been following this ... There is a mini-series docu-drama scheduled to air on ABC this weekend - Sunday & Monday ??? - I'm not sure - called The Path to 9/11, based heavily on the 9/11 Commission Reports.
Many prominent Democrats are being very vocal about it being edited before it airs - or even suggesting it be pulled completely. They say it has some inaccuracies & portrays President Clinton in a bad light. IT'S A FRIGGIN' MINI-SERIES!!!!!!!!!! Since when does TV have to be accurate? Has it ever been?
Does this stink of partisan politics? Where were these Democrats when Michael Moore's piece of propaganda - filled with lies & inaccuracies, and presented as a documentary - designed to make President Bush look like a complete idiot & liar - was released? When this same Michael Moore was a featured guest at the Democratic National Convention?
To me, this is unreal; it is frustrating; it is very disappointing; it is a reason that this long-time Democratic Liberal, who voted for McGovern and Carter and even Clinton the first time, is now a Conservative. The self-proclaimed Party of "tolerance" and "openness" just can't STAND either!

I heard on NPR that the Commission Reports were made into a "comic book" by I believe Stan Lee and another gentleman whose name I can't remember. Has anyone heard about this?

I agree with you, Rich and MG. It proabably is closer to the truth than they want it to be. The media and all it's inaccuracies are well heard by the public, unfortantely, the majority rely on it as a source of truth. And the media does tend to get a little loose in the mouth when things are better left unsaid.
Do you recall when Sept 11th first happened and the media was going bezerk over the actions of the gov, what they were doing, who was doing it, when it was to be done...this actually hurt our nation, giving the truth to the many groups of terrorist on US soil who could then prepare their clans for retaliation. The gov. brought that scenario to a swift close and the press went crazy...they took away their hottest topic. Sad to see the media cares more for their stories, stoking the fire of the population than considering some secrecy as beneficial.
When I first read your post, Rich, I first thought, "I'm glad he's a conservative," the second was "Since when was Clinton not bad?" Isn't odd how quickly and smoothly the end of the Gulf War ended, then as soon as Clinton skins out and Bush steps in...BAM-Sept 11th? Looks pretty conspicuous... If it was all planned in some way I would not be the least suprised.

I don't really know if I could watch it. No, I didn't have any relations to anyone who went through that, it's just that, well I really don't know how to put this, to see that happen live on television then for someone to show me what supposedly went on with the individuals, the fears, the phone calls to loved ones, and all of that stuff, I just don't think I could watch anything like that. I cried when I saw the advertisements, so the viewing whole thing is out of the question I believe. I would be so angry by the end, and so upset, I don't know that it would really be good for me. Like opening up an old wound. Yes, we need to be reminded but, I only want so much reminding... And it's very sad indeed that people would use this for politcal gain. Sick really. |
