Hey guys! How are you today? Listen: I'd like to have a piece of information: who knows why the final dialogue between Chingachgook and Nathaniel has been cut out? Thanks a lot.

Ongewasgone, I don't know why this dialogue was not in the theatrical release of the film. Those words were so strong and profound. This ending tugs at my heartstrings and literally brings me to tears. OH! BTW! Welcome!

It's a weird thing the way films are shot. Generally, there is much more footage than will be seen publicly. We all know that. It's then, basically, up to the the vision the director has at that moment - as the editing is being done - that appears before the movie-going public. Then, too, the Studio has some say in the matter [too long, too bloody, etc.].
It would seem to me that a film really is never truly finished. If the director, in this case Mann, were to put the footage together at any given time, it'd probably be done a bit differently.
Thus we have two films - The Last of the Mohicans [1992] and The Last of the Mohicans [2000]. So far ... at least!
But, I agree ... the film is better for having included Chingachgook's words the second time around [though, there are many who disagree! ]. |
