VCR Alert! Saturday night/Sunday Morning (Sept. 8) at 3:45am est AMC is showing FORT TI.
What's that, you ask?
It's one of only a handful of movies about the French and Indian War, and it's the only one in 3D!
That's right. After BWANA DEVIL, which started the 50's 3D craze, but before better known 3D movies like HONDO and HOUSE OF WAX, FORT TI showed Rogers' Rangers battling the French and Indians in glorious 3D Technicolor. This shows up on TV very rarely, so if you want to see a real rarity, here's your chance.
From the AMC Website:
"Future horror-meister William Castle (1958's House on Haunted Hill, 1959's The Tingler and 1963's The Old Dark House) directed this excursion into 3-D, western-style, and makes the most of the visual gimmick, hurling burning torches, flaming arrows, bloody tomahawks, and unsuspecting Indians practically into his viewers' laps. George Montgomery stars as a captain on the colonial frontier during the French and Indian War. In addition to fighting with Rogers' Rangers, he becomes involved with two women: a suspected French spy and an Indian maiden.
"Fort Ti (1953) can lay claim to two cinematic firsts, both connected with the 3-D process. It was the first film to be shown in full 3-D on British television (in December of 1982), and it was the first 3-D film in which an actor spits at the audience."
