TNT and DreamWorks have teamed up for a new epic western mini-series titled "Into The West." It has a huge cast including Wes Studi as Cheyenne chief Black Kettle, Russell Means as "Running Fox" and Tatanka Means as Crazy Horse. The cast also includes Sean Astin, Tom Berenger, Gary Busey, Beau Bridges, Graham Greene, Keri Russell, and Skeet Ulrich to name just a few. Looks pretty good.

There was, at one time, suppose to be some Alamo battle scene. But it seems it was simply just a rumor as I've gotten no other word on it. Plus, it seems to take place around the time of Custer and Crazy Horse. |

I also heard that Eric Schweig had been cast into it, but haven't been able to confirm that. I'm hoping! |

Chris, this rumor is correct. Eric is definitely in this mini-series. Actually, he is on set right now in NM. They got a snow storm which will delay the filming for a little. Eric has actually landed the role of Sitting Bull. He will be in two parts of the mini-series. Isn't it incredible that Eric Schweig, Russell Means, and Wes Studi, are together again. What a treat huh? All we are missing is Daniel Day-Lewis, that is something that I would love to see again.... |

Yeah, I had heard that there was to be an Alamo episode as well, but there's no mention of it on the website. Part of the story takes place around Custer and Crazy horse, but it starts in the 1820s with the early mountain men like Jedediah Smith then covers early California history with Fremont and the gold rush, and settlers migrating west, and continues to tell the story of the two families til the 1880s. |

I'll second THAT vote, for sure! And wouldn't it have been interesting to listen in on the conversations between these three reunited actors while they worked together again on this project??? I wonder if they reminisced about LOTM at all... |

I totally agree with you Diane B. I can imagine all the awesome stories they spoke of. I really hope that in between making this series they get interviewed together and talk about the good old times, especially anything related to LOTM. |

Just wanted to keep this thread alive since it won't be too long until Into The West airs. I believe that the first episode airs June 10th.

Well, I am looking forward to this one!
Yes, Kay, Episode 1 begins Friday evening, June 10th. It airs on TNT at 8 PM Eastern time, and again at 10 PM Eastern. And if you can't watch it that night, you have 4 more chances: Saturday and Sunday evenings at both 8 PM and 10 PM.
I just checked out the official website and looked at the entire cast, and it is a big one! Wait until you see Eric. Looks like another good makeup job.

WW, Well, I don't have any Yuengling but I have plenty of popcorn ready to pop, so I will be watching and snacking right along with you. Hmmmm, another makeup job for Eric? Doesn't sound too promising!!! Oh well, let's just sit back and enjoy.

Hi Ellie
I'm afraid us lot in the UK won't be able to see 'Into the West' on our screens anytime soon. I have tried to find out if Dreamworks has or intends to sell the screening rights to a UK TV company but have had no reply. I have also e mailed Channel 4, Sky and BBC but they just advise that I contact Dreamworks. I guess we will have to wait until it goes to Video/DVD. We don't half miss alot over here!

Well, being the forgetful type I have been of late, I forgot it was June 10 - so, I missed it. I had meant to catch it. How about a first episode synopsis so that I - and others here like me - can be up to snuff this Friday night!!! |

Hi Paula, thanks for letting me know. I hope UK tv does show it, we sometimes get the good stuff eventually. In the meantime I guess I will have to watch Big Brother and Celebrity Love Island...

Ellie, - what do you believe it would have been like to live in the 18th or 19th century, - especially in a remote or frontier area? |

Completely different to what I imagine, I know. Words like difficult do not do the hardships experienced justice, it is beyond my comprehension what it must have been like. But I live in a small, dull, flat town in the UK so I like to indulge in my wilderness fantasies. |

You're right about it being difficult, - and nothing like we experience today. Still, a very "interesting" in history to experience. Too bad there really isn't a "time machine". By all means keep your thoughts about living in the wilderness. My guess is you'd have done quite well. ... ;) |

Hi Rich,
I watched just bits of it in between my kids running around, so I pretty much missed it as well. I was able to Google these links, so they might help. I am just going to wait for it to come out on DVD.

Thanks, Caitlin, for the links. Rich, if you click on Caitlin's 2nd link, enter the site, go to episodes, it will give you a summary of what happened on the first episode. Now, each episode airs 6 times each weekend, if understand it correctly. So, no excuses to miss this! :-) Steph |
