Hi MohicanLanders:
This is a note to let you know that the DVD for Season I (1984-1985) is out. My opinion is that this was the best season for the series. It contains those classic episodes including NO EXIT, LOMBARD, and EVAN.
Hope everyone is well.

You may have already heard ... Jamie Foxx and Colin Ferrell are going to star in a Miami Vice movie due out in summer 2006.
http://www.themovieblog.com/archives/2005/02/miami_vice_movie_news.html
I have difficulty distinguishing between Colin Firth and Colin Farrell because of their similar names ... so my mental picture of what the movie will be like is a little shaky. (Though I'm pretty sure the "cute one" is NOT Farrell!) |

I read about that. Must say I am dubious about it. Most transitions i.e. movie to tv and vice versa don't fare as well. Remember Dennis the Menace or McHale's Navy or Lost in Space? Star Trek did okay. It took a couple times to get the movie series going--Wrath of Kahn.
We shall see. I'll enjoy the DVD in the meantime.

I remember in particular how well the music worked in this show. Whatever episode they played Phil Collins'(or was it Genesis'?), "In the Air Tonight" on while cruising through the city was totally sweet. My parents bought the soundtrack on cassette and I remember thinking that it was definitely one of their better musical selections. Ahhhhhhh- deck shoes, Hawaiian shirts, those short-shorts that all of us guys wore, Tears for Fears, Genesis, the USSR, mutually-assured destruction, the Smurfs on saturday mornings-1985 was a magical year. Edward James Olmos was sweet on this show, as a kid he really freaked me out- very tough and pissed off, an imperfect character. I also like him on the new "Battlestar Galactica", he outdoes Lorne Greene in spades as Adama. |

Good call, Dillon, it does look like Wes Studi is in the running for the big-screen MV:

If I understand...Wes Studi may be in the cast for this new film...
Wade, Thanks for letting us know that Wes might be in the movie. I wouldn't normally go and see a movie with Colin Farrell in it, but if Wes is in it too, then I might be able to tolerate dear Colin.

Wes Studi??? Obviously he would be the choice to play Lt. Castille (Edward James Olmos' old character).

Sarge, I didn't think about that, but I bet that you are right. Wes would be perfect for that role.

That is what I think, since he can play the 'brooding, super-serious professional' as good as Olmos. I am sure that if Michael Mann had access to Mr. Studi back in 1982, he would have tapped him for the role.

Hey, Carter!
Since Michael Mann has worked with Wes in the past, he's certainly aware of what a talented actor he is, so that should ensure that he gets the part in the "Miami Vice" movie!
A little off-topic here, but...when you finally DO hear something from Michael Mann, could you please put a bug in his ear about releasing a REAL expanded DVD of LOTM? You know, one that has all of the extra footage he included in the "director's version" DVD and also has all of the great lines & scenes that he cut out from the VHS version!

I think he will get "a" part, it's "THE" part that you refer to that I'm stressing over. LOL When MM's assistant called Wes, she said Wes was under consideration for "a" part....what does THAT mean???? Darn it, Wes deserves THE part!!! Hey after I finish working my charm on MM, I'll talk to him about the DVD. Har har! |
